We will be visiting Universal Orlando in June, 2016. We began planning this trip last summer. At that time, I booked a rack rate room at HRH, just to hold our spot. I asked about the AAA discount, and they told me that the discounts for 2016 would not be out until mid-January, and to call back then to adjust our rate.

Flash forward to this morning when I called and asked about the AAA rate. The rep on the phone told me that Universal will not have any AAA hotel discounts in 2016, except for Sapphire Falls, once it opens. So no chance to get a AAA discount at HRH.

I asked about the restaurant and shop discounts, and the rep checked with her supervisor. She confirmed that the 15% off at the stores and 10% off at in-park dining will still be given for AAA, just not the hotel discounts.

Just wanted to post this in case someone was counting on it. Hopefully you're not as disappointed as I was!

On the good side, the rack rates at HRH have gone up, so right now our 'rack rate' from last year is cheaper than 15% off booking through Orbitz. Still, I just don't feel *right* paying 'full price', KWIM?

With the AAA rate for the shops-I believe you have to spend $50 to get a discount ( I think it's $50). It use to not have a limit on it, but I think it's been the last few years that you have to spend a certain amount to receive the discount.

This is true. It's the same for using the Disney Visa merchandise discount at Disney.

I posted something very similar on Jan.15th about being told to call back late Dec.'15, early Jan for AAA rates.Disappointed that there are no AAA rates for HRH also for our May, '16 trip.:sad2: We have stayed on site about 3 times, twice RPR and once at Portofino and have always had excellent AAA rates. Oh well, will have to be satisfied with SMSM rates. ENJOY your trip!::yes:::goodvibes

I was given the same information about a week ago. They said I can still get a discount if I were to book a package through AAA. My AAA travel agent was not able to get any sort of discount and we did better booking a la cart.

I didn't check AAA packages because I believe I read that the cancellation provisions are much more tighter and stringent with AAA packages. Room only cancellation is 5 days which I can "live with".

Yea, I was able to get a better price for Stay More Save More than with the AP rate. But to be fair, this is the longest stay I'll have had at CB. I'm just not feeling Disney at all

Yeah, we don't qualify for SMSM because it's only 2 nights for us. But even at full price, we feel it's worth it to get the unlimited EP and EE.

At least they still have the dining discount for AAA! We use that one a lot.

Yes, 10% AAA will be used a lot. Glad that discount still remains!
