DW and I went to Olivia's back on 11/9 for dinner. Now all the documents that we were given at check in, and the DVC web site had to the effect: "Olivia's Café at Disney's Old Key West Resort
Enjoy casual dining with a Key West atmosphere and great menu items. Disney Vacation Club Members receive a 10% discount on food and non-alcoholic beverages for dine-in only. For Priority Seating, please call 407-WDW-DINE (939-3463)†. " there was a sign at the check in desk saying that due to information not making to the printers in time that the discount would be discontinued until after the 1st of the year.

I asked our waiter about this and he said that due to increased customers due to the holidays they didn't need the discount to get customers. I sent an e-mail to MS about this right away, no response. So you might want to check if they've still discontinued the discount before going to dinner, maybe they've changed their mind and put it back in.

If you have an AP you can still get the discount during weekday lunch hours. They discontinued the DVC discount another time and I forgot about the AP discount until later.

I knew about that but it didn't do any good since we weren't there at lunch. What ticks me off is that the DVC members web site still says 10% discount, there's no reason they couldn't get that updates in a matter of seconds.

I think they should honor what is on the website. That is the easiest and least expensive to update.

Was it on the perks list you received at checkin or the portable perks? If it was on there, they should honor it.

My understanding from previous posts is that there was a disclaimer/notice about this at check-in, a disclaimer in the Perks Pages about subject to change, and a disclaimer/notice indicating the discount was not in effect at check in at Olivia's. Seems like the information was there--unfortunate to expect a discount and not get it, but it appears from other posts that they have tried to notifiy people (at least at WDW).

Yes, the 10% discount was noted on all information provided at checkin and it still shows on the DVC member site. As I said, I can understand the 'printing error' but to not update the web site a week later is unexcusable.

If they took your money and wouldn't give you the discount, push back with MS very hard. Printing and web-posting a discount and then putting up signs on location refusing to honor it meets the legal definition of bait-and-switch and can get Olivia's in trouble for racketeering.

That is lame. I'd complain, even if it was only 10%. If anything for the purpose of it all. ::yes::

Sounds like Olivia's needs a manager that has a pair and will accept that there's a moral, if not quite legal, responsibility to their customers. I can accept rides closing due to problems or maintenance, but subjectively removing a minor discount, even if printed in error, is just wrong.

Of course, thats just my opinion. I could be wrong.

A DVCer who recently ate at Marakesh (sp?) was told the DVC 20% special was not good on the "special of the day". The DVCer ended up paying full price. That is disgusting!!

Well said... It is dissapointing to not get the discount, but the perks page does say subject to change and they are making the effort to advise you before you go. I also agree though that 10% is not too much to ask especially since it is a DVC resort. If it were say the Boardwalk (or one of the other half and half resorts) that did that then ok, but for a 100% DVC property (yes I know there are renters but I think you get what I mean :) ) I agree it is disappointing.

It also says all perks available until 31 Jan, 2005 unless otherwise specified. Sounds like a simple case of a CM not knowing the rules and winging it rather than checking.

I was trying not to let this bother me, but that was one thing that really ****ed DH and I off when we were there the first week of November. Made our reservation 11 months out....then found out the main pool was going to be closed during our visit. Then found out that the spa had been moved. THEN went to eat and couldn't even get a measly 10% discount. I would think of all times to be keeping the discount going it would be when you are being inconvenienced in other ways.
