NMAmy's Spring Break 2010 Trip Report--Girls Gone Mild! Update 5/18

Sorry I'm behind--I've just been so darned busy!

OH, I know that button!!! I got the "Off with her head!" one for my boss, lol! Sometimes, I borrow it, too. ;)

Oh, my gosh, I totally want the "Off with her head!" button for myself! They didn't have that one--I'll have to look for it next year.

 I think we can all probably say "been there, done that!"

SO glad I'm not the only one!

You should have told Alex to put on a hat and skip the primping.

:lmao: Well, that's Alex. I can hardly drag him away from the mirror.

Such manners Amy. You could have been the park guest that goes through the line saying "Excuse me, excuse me, meeting up with the family, excuse me."

You know, that never even occurred to me. My mother would somehow KNOW and hunt me down if I tried to cut in line.

Hollywood Boulevard :thumbsup2

Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner! Your fake CM badge is in the mail. I did just realize that I've still been calling the park MGM instead of Hollywood Studios, anyway, so all my fake CM priviliges have been revoked.

You've got some really great photopass shots on this trip.

All my nagging paid off!

What happened to zen?

I think it fell out of my pocket on the Rock-n-Rollercoaster.

Hope you post more soon!

Hoping to wrap this up soon!

Thursday, March 25 – Evening
After my much needed nap, the girls decided to head back to the AK and Alex and I went to the MK in the hopes of seeing Spectro (since I had been commanded by hucifer that this should be on my MUST do list). Sadly, the spring break crowds had finally decided to arrive. We could really tell the difference in the amount of people in the parks.

We started out with Philharmagic. There wasn’t a long wait but people were crowding the entrance doors. As we always do, we hung back a bit and then entered in the middle to get a seat in the middle of the theater. I mean, that’s what the smart people do, right? And, of course, there were the usual CM’s telling everyone to move all the way down to the end of the row.

All those who just HAD to be the first ones in had stopped square in the middle of our row. The world’s meekest CM was trying to get them to move down and they were ignoring her. I was standing there waiting for these yahoos to get their behinds out of the chairs and then, it happened.

This guy looked at me and actually waved impatiently for me to walk past him and his rude family. His whole attitude was like, “Come on, lady, get with the program.” And that’s when I got royally ticked off. Really? You have the nerve to act like I'M the one holding things up here?

I waved in a shooing motion to these folks and said, “You guys need to move down.” Had you scared there for a second, didn’t I? Did you think I was going to go all Chuck Norris on them? No swearing, no yelling, just “You guys need to move down.” I didn’t think I was mean and I didn’t yell so I was a little shocked when about 15 people got up as one and scooted their behinds down the row. Alex said he couldn’t hear what I said but thought it was hilarious that I’d shamed that many people into moving.

There was one super special couple that wouldn’t move and apparently could not be shamed by me and I was sorely tempted to step on their toes. Since the open seats were just past them, I did walk on by. Then, the woman had the nerve to huff and complain when another family couldn’t fit together and asked her to move down two seats. Oh, I just LOVE spring break, don’t I? The only thing to compare to it is Christmas which I wouldn’t do if Disney was paying ME to go to the MK.

The whole situation kind of ruined the whole show for me, but luckily, there was an issue with the show not playing on the full screen so the CM’s came out afterward and announced that due to the technical problems, we could stay seated and watch again if we wanted. I was surprised that about half of the guests left at that point.

As we were waiting for them to reset the show, I overheard the little girl behind me complaining that she couldn’t see while her parents tried frantically to shush her. I scared the bejeebers out of her when I turned around and offered to move down a couple of seats for her and not let anyone sit there. She was so surprised and so cute—she thanked me profusely.

We were hungry by that time so we stopped by the Columbia Harbor House for some dinner. I just love the clam chowder there. We were pretty early so we were about the only ones in the place which was nice after the crowds outside.

After another quick spin on the Haunted Mansion, we decided to go visit Toon Town before it disappears forever. It was crowded but we managed to make it through Mickey’s house.

We took the quiet route to Toon Town and didn't see a soul on the path.
CIMG2347.jpg

We have squirrels at our cottage that roll acorns along the roof like this. It sounds like they're bowling up there.

Donald's boat:

CIMG2348.jpg

Oh, Mickey, I can't believe they're tearing your house down. You. The Big Cheese. If anyone ought to have some clout at WDW, it's you, pal.

CIMG2350.jpg

I kind of want a window like this now.
CIMG2352.jpg

Okay, I just don't think those glasses would really work. I mean, how's he supposed to hold them up with his ears up on top of his head?

CIMG2353.jpg

Poor Donald!

CIMG2354.jpg

Nope, we're not on Living with the Land. Plastic tomatoes:

CIMG2362.jpg

And I'm not sure how Pluto fits in this dog house. I mean, I've met him--he's TALL!

CIMG2360.jpg

Kind of bossy there, aren't you, Mickey? I mean I like you, but I don't have time to relay messages to Pluto for you.

CIMG2365.jpg

We were now killing time—just waiting for Spectro to roll around again. We went to the PoTC and again, in spite of the crowds outside, it was a walk on. I asked the CM who was loading the ride if it got lonely in there by herself and she laughed and told me that they’d been busy earlier in the day but it always got pretty quiet after dark. So, there you have it. A super secret CM tip from me to you. My reports are so educational, aren’t they?

Then we stopped by the Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room which was….empty. We listened to the birds singing words and the flowers crooning along with one kind of odd guy who was randomly imparting Tiki Room trivia. During the show.

As we started heading back to Main Street, it became apparent where all the crowds were. Just past the bridge to Adventureland, it was wall-to-wall people. We found a place to stand but it just got more and more crowded. That’s when I looked at Alex and said, “I’m sorry—I know I dragged you here for this but I just can’t stand it.”

So, my dear Wendy, I have failed once again. I did not see Spectro. I may never know the joy that is people with weird masks and lights walking down Main Street USA unless I can manage to go to WDW at a time without all the crazy crowds. I'm not worthy to shine your fake CM badge.

We snuck down the sidewalk behind the parade watchers, hanging our heads in shame. Well, not really, because I’d told Alex we’d go to the Boardwalk for ice cream so he was good. One fairly empty bus ride later and we were sitting on the Boardwalk, eating chocolate soft serve ice cream and enjoying the relatively quiet night life. We stayed long enough to watch the high fireworks for Illuminations and then went back to the room. I had a beer on the balcony and I’m sure the girls stayed out late somewhere but I can’t find it in my notes. Probably the MK.

Great photos of Mickey's place!
Naps are wonderful, aren't they? Some of the people at the parks could use a nap; a long one too!
Hope you get to see Spectro sometime. Looking forward to reading more about your trip!

So glad to find your new trip report, even if you are almost done! I enjoyed reading your last one, last year as I was preparing for my 1st (well ok, 2nd - but I was only 2 years old the 1st time) trip to the World! We loved it so much that my husband and I are taking our daughters back this fall for 12 nights! Can't wait to read about the rest of your trip!

We did it again! We were at the same park at the same time! We even did some of the same things. I wonder if you were in the same Tiki show as we were. You should have made your way back to Frontierland to watch Spectro. We were there and I didn't think the crowds were bad at all. I agree Main Street was pretty bad though. We had to make our way through the crowds as we left MK that evening.

Naps are one of my favorite things about vacation. :thumbsup2 I realize that that's considered blasphemy on a Disney message board! Glad you liked the photos. I'm going to miss Toon Town.

Hi, jen! I'm glad you found the trip report, too! I'm so happy that you had a great trip and you are a very lucky duck to be able to go for 12 nights. Where are you staying?

Friday, March 26

Well, I know this is a big surprise for you all but Caitlin did not want to get up this morning. Brittany stuck her head out from under the covers and asked where we were going. My original plan was to go to the MK one last time but she told me that they really hadn’t done much at Epcot. All righty then! Epcot it is! That’s me—making Disney dreams come true.:wizard: If you have a Disney dream and we're there at the same time, I'll change my plans to help you out.

Another random picture of the Boardwalk on our walk over:

Our early stroll through the International Gateway:

CIMG2381.jpg

I was seemingly fascinated with that little teacup garden since I took so many pictures of it. Maybe I need to get some of those cups for my garden. Although, Alex is such a tea fiend, I'm sure he'd be stealing them for real tea.

CIMG2380.jpg

Our first stop was Soarin’, of course. We got some fast passes for later in the day and braved the line. It wasn’t too bad—about 30 minutes or so. We passed the time playing the games and I must say, Brittany totally rocked at that part. I think she may have enjoyed that more than the actual ride and she was a bit disappointed when we left that part of the queue. We took a quick trip over California—with absolutely no strangers narrating for me today. Very nice.

After Soarin’, we talked about all the stuff Brittany hadn’t done yet. We went on Spaceship Earth. I love the way this photo turned out.

CIMG2377.jpg

We walked miles and miles through the queue at Finding Nemo.

CIMG2376.jpg

Nice & quiet over there!

We made her try Beverly at Club Station Cool. (Okay, that was MY Disney dream, not Brit’s.)

CIMG2378.jpg

We went to visit Figment. I was shocked that she’d never been on that one before.

We did a little shopping. By then, I was starving so we went back to The Land Pavilion and had some lunch at Sunshine Seasons. Since we all separated to collect our lunches, I’m not sure exactly what they got but I got my beloved salmon and mashed potatoes. Alex got some kind of noodle thing and Brittany got a sandwich. After we were done, I insisted that we needed dessert. What can I say? I am totally in love with the Butterfingers cheesecake. It’s odd—I’m not a huge fan of Butterfingers in the normal scheme of things but in cheesecake form? It’s genius. Alex got some chocolate cake and then the three of us shared them all. The two of them were a little suspicious of the cheesecake but once they tried it, they agreed that I was absolutely correct in my assessment. Chocolate cake? Amateurs.

Brittany and I briefly discussed doing a Kim Possible adventure but they return time was pretty late in the afternoon. I do have to say that Brittany was an absolutely delightful traveling companion. We’ve been really lucky with the friends that Caitlin’s brought along in the past and Brit was no exception. Plus, she liked getting up early and had no objection to hanging out with Alex and I on her own.

We decided to go back to the room and see if we could roust Caitlin out of bed. We stopped for some photos before heading out the International Gateway.

Caitlin was awake and ready to go by the time we got back. The girls headed off to the MK and Alex and I opted to stay in the room. I did some laundry and some packing since the girls had a REALLY early flight on Saturday morning. They were leaving at 6:00 a.m. and Alex and I were leaving the hotel around 9:00. I knew if I got some of this stuff done now, that we could stay out later tonight without feeling guilty. I even spent some time paying our luggage fees in advance so we could check the luggage at the resort in the morning and save some hassle.

I was feeling a bit maudlin about leaving and took some pictures from the balcony:

Next up--a really lovely evening at Epcot!

Friday Continued...

We were doing things a bit differently tonight. A friend of Brittany’s family lives close to WDW (lucky duck) and they were coming for a weekend of camping at Fort Wilderness. Brittany was going to meet up with them and spend the evening with them. Caitlin was invited along but, here’s the shocker, asked if she could spend the evening with Alex and I. Imagine that! It was so sweet. She missed us while she was away at school.

So Brittany’s friend came to pick her up and we headed off to Epcot again. We were having dinner in Alex’s homeland at the Rose & Crown pub. For a man who doesn’t drink, he sure loves his pubs. I, on the other hand, do enjoy a drink so I promptly ordered a Harp. Caitlin asked if we could get the cheese plate for an appetizer. I was surprised because this is one of my favorites and she’s never taken an interest in it.

Thank heavens, they have gotten rid of those weird Stilton puffs and gone back to regular cheese. We divvied it up—I got the Stilton and Cait and Alex shared the cheddar. Oddly, Caitlin loves blue cheese but was not impressed when she tried the Stilton.

For dinner, I had the bangers and mash, Alex got shepherd’s pie, and Caitlin—after much debate—got the fish & chips. All the meals were delicious.

Now, let the shopping commence! Caitlin had dilly dallied over choosing gifts for friends so we had our last minute shopping spree to contend with. Since we were right there in the UK, we started with the shops there.

The UK is all set for a Nazi invasion a la Bedknobs and Broomsticks. Treguna Mekoides Trecorum Satis Dee. Substitutiary locomotion, don’t cha know.

CIMG2393.jpg

Dancing couples on the way to France. It’s so festive in France, don’t you think? I tried to get Alex to dance but there were too many people.

CIMG2394.jpg

CIMG2395.jpg

We had skipped dessert in the UK and I had told enticed Caitlin with tales of crepes in France. Actually, first I had beguiled her with tales of pastries at the Boulangerie Patisserie but the line was pretty scary.

Yoda enjoying a crepe. Jedi have such international palates.

CIMG2396.jpg

Now the last time I was here, I swear that they MADE me a crepe. The woman with the thick French accent had taken my order and hadn’t winced at my schoolgirl pronounciation. She’d poured the batter onto the crepe maker and voila! A nice, fresh, hot crepe drizzled with chocolate sauce had appeared.

Not this time. She still had a French accent but she was more a surly Madame Defarge kind of person. Thank heavens there was no room for knitting needles in that tiny little kiosk but I’m quite certain she may have hidden them under a stray baguette. She took my order, rolled her eyes at my accent, and plopped an already made crepe down onto the griddle—swirled it around a couple of times and slapped it on a plate. Sacre bleu!

Caitlin was still excited since she and Alex and Yoda had been impatiently waiting at the table for me. Look at her face. She looks so excited to try her first crepe.

CIMG2397.jpg

She suddenly grimaced and I could tell she was really considering spitting it out. Good manners prevailed and she swallowed and pushed the plate over to me, saying, “You can have it.”

I tried a bite and she was right. Ick. It was cold and rubbery and just blech. Okay, lesson learned. Do not buy a crepe from Madame Defarge. And if you do, make sure Yoda is there to eat your leftovers.

We found some more topiaries:

The view across the lake:

CIMG2399.jpg

Japan:

CIMG2405.jpg

CIMG2406.jpg

We hit the department store in Japan but Caitie was still dithering.

As we were heading toward Germany (which is where all the drinking accoutrements were—prime gifts for college students), we heard a Flower Power concert. Caitie kind of stuck her nose up at first. I can totally understand that since they were playing a Starship song. Then White Rabbit came on. Caitlin has been fascinated with Woodstock. She turned and gave me a look of astonishment.

Caitlin: “Is THAT Jefferson Airplane?”

Me: Well…it’s like people who sang with other people who were in Jefferson Airplane..

Caitlin: Cool! Wait until I tell my History of Rock & Roll class that I got to hear Jefferson Airplane.

Alex: They’ll probably wonder where you keep your time machine, then.

We had to get photographic evidence for class:

CIMG2408.jpg

When Caitlin was 5 years old, we went to Disneyland. As parents are wont to do, we took her to see the characters and she met a really lovely Aladdin who declared that Caitlin was his new girlfriend. A couple of hours later, we saw the same Aladdin in the parade. He and Jasmine were in a car. He saw Caitlin and immediately threw her kisses and touched his heart. Jasmine pouted and looked upset. It was one of the most hilarious things I’ve ever seen at Disneyland. I’ve teased her about her boyfriend, Aladdin, ever since.

So when we saw the topiary version of Caitlin’s boyfriend, we had to get a photo. Okay, I had to get a picture.

CIMG2404.jpg

Another topiary in Italy:

CIMG2409.jpg

And, apparently, this is where the globe from Illuminations hangs out in his off hours. Close to the liquor in World Showcase, you’ll notice. It helps with stage fright.

CIMG2407.jpg

We went through Germany and were unable to find a small boot glass that met Caitlin’s stringent financial requirements. I, however, found some fabulous German cookies and got Caitlin some gummy something or other.

Next stop—Norway!

Alex is convinced he comes from Viking stock because he was born in Yorkshire. Doesn’t he look like a Viking in this hat?

CIMG2411.jpg

Caitlin and the troll

CIMG2413.jpg

CIMG2414.jpg

Okay, all that shopping and we still hadn’t purchased anything except cookies and gummy worms. Or frogs. Or bears. We decided to try Mouse Gears and if she couldn’t find something, then she’d just have to go back empty handed.

On our way over there, Caitlin had to stop to use the restroom. We were on those bridges just past Mexico that connect with FW. Alex and I found a bench to rest on and we were able to see the bathroom exit. Once again, there were big crowds of teens around the WS. As Caitlin exited the bathroom, one teenage boy broke off from his group and came up to her and said something. She made a short reply and turned around to walk to us and the boy headed back to his friends who were laughing at him.

Me: What was that all about?

Caitlin: (laughing) He asked me if he could have my phone number.

Me: What did you tell him?

Cait: I said no.

Me: That’s it? You just said no and walked away?

Cait: High school boys.

In prior years, Caitlin would have been mortified that her parents had seen this. It really showed me how grown up she’d become that she just laughed it off and continued on her way.

In Mouse Gears, Caitlin finally found a few shot glasses and I got some more scrapbook stuff. By this time, Alex was totally over Epcot. All the shopping had worn him down. I took pity on him and let him go back to the room.

As we were leaving the store, I mentioned idly that I’d seen the Prince Naveen cutout near here. Cait insisted on dragging me over to take her picture with her new boyfriend. Sorry, Aladdin, I think you’ve been replaced.

CIMG2415.jpg

So, now, we were just footloose and fancy free and back over by some rides again. It was EMH at Epcot tonight so it was crowded but Caitlin wanted to do some little stuff. We went on Spaceship Earth, and Finding Nemo, and Figment.

Brittany had called during this time and told Caitlin that she was there with her friends. And, get this. Caitlin told her she’d meet up later because she still wanted to hang out with her mom!! I heart College Caitlin.

I still had the two Soarin’ fast passes from earlier in the day. The park had just closed so I was a little surprised when they asked for our room cards to enter but we were allowed to use them with no issues. We had a fairly short wait.

By this time, it was 10:00—way past my bedtime. Caitlin saw I was pretty tired and it was chilly so she volunteered to walk back with me to get something warmer to wear and then she’d meet up with Brittany. I fussed a bit about her walking back in the dark by herself and she only rolled her eyes a little bit when she told me that she walks around campus by herself at night—surely she could handle the Boardwalk with tons of people around. She volunteered to call me when she got back to the park.

It was just such a wonderful way to end the trip--spending the evening with my adorable girl. I’m just so proud of the way she’s grown up. I wasn’t sure for awhile that it would turn out this way—the teenage years really did a number on me—but she’s grown up good and that makes me really happy.

And here's my favorite picture from the evening:

Ahh, I love that picture of you and Alex. It is so sweet. :cloud9:
How are you doing today? Is Alex home with you today?

Hi, jen! I'm glad you found the trip report, too! I'm so happy that you had a great trip and you are a very lucky duck to be able to go for 12 nights. Where are you staying?

Yes, we're very lucky to be going for 12 nights! Our orignal plan was 9 nights (still lucky) at Pop Century. But since we are moving to California (from Georgia) a few days after our trip, my husband decided that since we would need to be staying in a hotel anyways, why not just stay at Disney a few extra days! No need to suggest that twice! With the free dining plan deal and already planning on so many days, it just didnt make sense to not stay the extra days. By the time we would pay for a hotel and food for 3 days at home it would be the same price to stay at Disney. So now we are staying 3 extra days and going to the Halloween Party our last night there!

I like College Caitlyn (LOVE her name...my youngest's middle name is Kaitlyn). I hope my girls want to spend time with me, when they get to be her age! Sounds like you had a wonderful trip! I am hoping that, with the length of our trip this time, we are able to tour at a more relaxing pace this time. Last year, we were not certain whenw e would be back and since it was my husband & girls first trip we wanted to do as much as we could!

Hi, Kate! I'm better today than I was yesterday considering that I got four wisdom teeth yanked. ;) I'm just glad it's over and done with. Yep, Alex stayed home with me which was pretty good since I have NO memory of yesterday morning.

Wow, a move across country AND a Disney trip. You're going to have a busy fall! I can sure get your reasoning--might as well stay at a hotel at WDW as opposed to anywhere else. :thumbsup2 I think you'll be able to relax and enjoy the trip--we used to be a lot more stringent about getting things done but now that we go every year, we like to just have fun.

Well, somehow I missed an email from Lou somewhere along the line. Sorry about that, Lou!

Lou said:
Read your update on Sunday and got sidetracked and almost forgot to go back to it.

Quoting you: We shopped on the main strip, the street in, you know what I mean. Hey, I’m not wearing a fake CM badge and I can’t even remember the street names in my own town.

You need Wendy as a tour guide. But then you’d think you were at the World Showcase.

But then I'd have had to take the bus from MGM to Epcot.

Lou said:
Quoting some ranting stranger: “I’ve been eating here for 20 years and I’ve NEVER needed a reservation! This is ridiculous! Whoever heard of needing a reservation at an amusement park?”

I doubt she’s been going there for twenty years because no one calls it an amusement park least of all people who have been going for twenty years.

She was a wacko!

Lou said:
Quoting you: She is so obviously not a DIS reader.

Actually, given her ranting sense of self entitlement I think she is.

:lmao: I think you're onto something, Lou!

Quoting retiring streetmosphere guy: So he tried fruitlessly to get these three boys to yell "Ga-Rowl!" every time he said the team name and the kids would just look at him blankly. Then he'd say, "No? Nothing? Okay, then. He was a hoot.

Actually sometimes when people have that Huh? What? reaction that can be pretty funny too. We had that once at the ‘50’s Prime Time. This couple just did not get what was going on around them.

I'm so sad that guy is retiring because he is hilarious. But, yeah, you're right about people being clueless.

Quoting you: Cait remembered I'd mentioned this Stitch photo and asked the photographer if we could get one:

She was lucky Stitch was popping up at that moment. What are the odds?

It was quite a coincidence, wasn't it? It's a good thing the photographers know where his little trap door to the street is located.

I wasn’t even there and even I’m glad.

Very interesting - we just recently accidentally rode POTC in the last five-ish minutes before the MK closed and found the same thing! Good to know this happens fairly regularly :thumbsup2

I did not see Spectro
:sad1:

But, frankly, this sounds a lot better than a crowded parade, no matter how twinkly it may be...
One fairly empty bus ride later and we were sitting on the Boardwalk, eating chocolate soft serve ice cream and enjoying the relatively quiet night life. We stayed long enough to watch the high fireworks for Illuminations and then went back to the room. I had a beer on the balcony...

It was just such a wonderful way to end the trip--spending the evening with my adorable girl. I’m just so proud of the way she’s grown up. I wasn’t sure for awhile that it would turn out this way—the teenage years really did a number on me—but she’s grown up good and that makes me really happy.
Okay, I'm mush now. :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

That’s me—making Disney dreams come true.:wizard: If you have a Disney dream and we're there at the same time, I'll change my plans to help you out.

My Disney dream is to don a Tink costume and fly down the cable during Wishes. If we're there at the same time, would you change your plans to help me out?

I was seemingly fascinated with that little teacup garden since I took so many pictures of it. Maybe I need to get some of those cups for my garden. Although, Alex is such a tea fiend, I'm sure he'd be stealing them for real tea.

He'd need a mighty large tea bag to brew tea in that cup. (The garden really is fascinating.)

Our first stop was Soarin’, of course. We got some fast passes for later in the day and braved the line. It wasn’t too bad—about 30 minutes or so. We passed the time playing the games and I must say, Brittany totally rocked at that part.

This is the game where the crowd has to move their arms around to make something move through the game, or something? Do the arm movements really make the game work, or are they making us look like fools? I wasn't so sure when we played.

We walked miles and miles through the queue at Finding Nemo.

This made me laugh. It's so true.

I do have to say that Brittany was an absolutely delightful traveling companion. We’ve been really lucky with the friends that Caitlin’s brought along in the past and Brit was no exception. Plus, she liked getting up early and had no objection to hanging out with Alex and I on her own.

College Brittany is a pretty cool gal.

Good advance preps create hassle free Disney trips. And a few naps.;)

I was feeling a bit maudlin about leaving and took some pictures from the balcony:

You've got such a way with words. I like it.

Maudlin - Effusively sentimental (I looked it up.)

We had skipped dessert in the UK and I had told enticed Caitlin with tales of crepes in France. Actually, first I had beguiled her with tales of pastries at the Boulangerie Patisserie but the line was pretty scary.
and so on........

Cute crepe experience.

And, apparently, this is where the globe from Illuminations hangs out in his off hours. Close to the liquor in World Showcase, you’ll notice. It helps with stage fright.

:rotfl:

Alex is convinced he comes from Viking stock because he was born in Yorkshire. Doesn’t he look like a Viking in this hat?

Totally

Brittany had called during this time and told Caitlin that she was there with her friends. And, get this. Caitlin told her she’d meet up later because she still wanted to hang out with her mom!! I heart College Caitlin.]

aaawww

And here's my favorite picture from the evening:

Alex didn't want to dance with you because there were too many people around, but he didn't mind making out with you in front of many people huh. That Alex.

Hucifer is right. Where is she, anyway?

I don't know. I hope she's okay--I haven't seen her post in a couple of weeks.

Very interesting - we just recently accidentally rode POTC in the last five-ish minutes before the MK closed and found the same thing! Good to know this happens fairly regularly :thumbsup2

:lmao: I know I'm going to forget by the time our next trip rolls around.

But, frankly, this sounds a lot better than a crowded parade, no matter how twinkly it may be...

Wait, it's twinkly? Dang!

Shut the front door - I'm stunned! :rotfl2:

I KNOW! Crazy, isn't it?

:lmao::lmao::lmao: Best. Answer. Ever. :rotfl:

:rotfl: Well, I was frantically trying to think if any original members were actually there. But, no. The woman pretending to be Grace Slick did a pretty good job, though.

Okay, I'm mush now. :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

I was, too.

My Disney dream is to don a Tink costume and fly down the cable during Wishes. If we're there at the same time, would you change your plans to help me out?

Absolutely! I'm picturing the two of us sneaking through the castle, you in a Tinkerbell costume, and the Mission Impossible music playing in the background.

He'd need a mighty large tea bag to brew tea in that cup. (The garden really is fascinating.)

I really did like it--I wish I had a garden like that myself. Along with a staff of gardeners to do all the hard work for me.

This is the game where the crowd has to move their arms around to make something move through the game, or something? Do the arm movements really make the game work, or are they making us look like fools? I wasn't so sure when we played.

That's the game! And, of course, the arm movements make the game work. I have to believe that because the other choice is that we looked like idiots and were kept so easily amused for half an hour by jumping up and down and waving our arms. :rotfl::rotfl:

College Brittany is a pretty cool gal.

She's totally cool.

That's my motto! Although it doesn't really fit on a t-shirt.

You've got such a way with words. I like it.

Maudlin - Effusively sentimental (I looked it up.)

Aww...thanks! Apparently, my Word-A-Day calendar is really paying off! ;)

Alex didn't want to dance with you because there were too many people around, but he didn't mind making out with you in front of many people huh. That Alex.

Duh! You couldn't have waltzed without knocking over some little old lady in a walker. We had our own special spot to make out--encouraged by a Photopass photographer and my daughter. :thumbsup2

Sorry I disappeared, guys! First I was doped up from getting my wisdom teeth pulled and then my mom ended up back in the hospital and she's still there. I'm hoping they spring her loose soon because she is NOT a happy camper. Cait's home from school--it's just been crazy!

Here's my last missive from our pal, Lou:

I see you skipped my last batch. There goes my self esteem. But….undaunted…we go on…..

I'm so sorry about that, Lou! I don't know how I missed that one. Is that skipping to my Lou?

Lou said:
Quoting you: I waved in a shooing motion to these folks and said, “You guys need to move down.”

Don’t get me started on this. Drives me crazy. And a variation is when they have to sit in the first few rows…..for a 3D movie that makes no difference if you are in the front or not.

I personally prefer the middle rows of the theater. But I'm not going to just plop down somewhere and expect people to walk over me.

Lou said:
Quoting you: A super secret CM tip from me to you.

I’ll give you an even better one about POTC. Always use the left side queue (assuming it is open). It is shorter. Friends of mine (yes such people do exist) challenged me on this and we did a comparison test (with a moderate amount of people in line) and I clearly won by about 5 minutes.

:lmao: I'd like some kind of evidence of these so called "friends."

I do agree with you about the left queue. Although both of them were empty when we were there so it was kind of a moot point and hard to compare line duration times.

Lou said:
Quoting you: I did not see Spectro.

What a loser. Spectro is great. Here’s another tip for all parades: Pick either the beginning or the end. The crowds are always thinner there. I prefer the beginning because you’re also done earlier and it gets you back to the attractions before everyone else but I’ve gotten caught in an unexpected route reversal on occasion.

Sigh. I AM a loser. I can't imagine the trauma of an unexpected route reversal, though.

Lou said:
Quoting you: I was feeling a bit maudlin about leaving

Really? I usually just get sad.

:rotfl: Me, too.

Lou said:
Quoting you: Caitlin was invited along but, here’s the shocker, asked if she could spend the evening with Alex and I.

I would have been suspicious.

Well, it IS easier to get us to pay for everything when she's with us.

Lou said:
Quoting you: I, on the other hand, do enjoy a drink

I got that from the last installment when you were pounding them down on the Boardwalk balcony with no clue where the girls were at.

That's why they keep giving me that Mother of the Year award all the time! :thumbsup2

Lou said:
Quoting you: Caitlin: “Is THAT Jefferson Airplane?”

In a past life I worked for RCA Records and met them on several occasions. This was in the early ‘80s when many of them were still former members of the Airplane.

Good thing her History of Rock & Roll class is over or she'd have been dragging you along for show and tell. They have show and tell in college, don't they? I believe they're called "presentations" and "guest speakers."

Lou said:
Quoting you: Doesn’t he look like a Viking in this hat?

Not really what came to mind but in keeping with the family theme we’ll go with that.

Good plan! :lmao:

Lou said:
Quoting you: Caitlin and the troll

Guess she doesn’t know she’s supposed to put her fist up the troll’s nose. Same as the monkey in the Tree of Life on your way to It’s A Bug’s Life. At least according to my kids that is what you’re supposed to do. Every year. I have pictures to prove it.

I'll tell her although I hate to expose such an obvious gap in her WDW education. Why did I never think of this? Your children are geniuses. :thumbsup2

Quoting you: I wasn’t sure for awhile that it would turn out this way—the teenage years really did a number on me

That’s not them in their teenage years. They are alien replacements. I’m sure of it.

Have you been watching V? I'm not debating this, mind you, I totally agree with you.

Oh. My. God.

I just had a whole post of witty replies to your mass of posts...and...poof. They disappeared.

Operator error.

Let me just say that I was HIGH-larious. And now I'm so upset that I lost all the evidence of said hilarity.

Amy...I am so sorry I've been away. I missed a lot of your TR. And now you're missing my witty replies. Life is so unfair.

Let me just say, that I am NOT happy about you missing Spectro. See?

But I love that picture of you and Alex! See? :lovestruc

And now it's over and I'm sad. See? :sad1:

Oh. My. God.

Sure, you did, Wendy. Uh huh. :lmao: No, actually, I totally believe you because I've done that myself. I'm so sad that I missed all your wittiness.

Let me just say that I was HIGH-larious. And now I'm so upset that I lost all the evidence of said hilarity.

:lmao: Well, I'm just going to take your word for your hilarity, ma'am. Past behavior does make me believe you, though.

Amy...I am so sorry I've been away. I missed a lot of your TR. And now you're missing my witty replies. Life is so unfair.

No need to be sorry, pal! We missed you AND your so-called witty replies. But now I need to try to remember what happened on our last morning! :rotfl: After I was so cocky about finishing this in a timely manner, I do admit that I purposely held off until you got back. That's how much I like you.

Let me just say, that I am NOT happy about you missing Spectro. See?

Wow. That is a mad face. And, really, missing Spectro is an excellent excuse to return but I have to say I've got my fingers crossed that they'll keep the Main Street Electrical Parade going.

But I love that picture of you and Alex! See? :lovestruc

I :lovestruc that one, too.

And now it's over and I'm sad. See? :sad1:

Me, too. I've been jonesing to start planning another trip already. It doesn't usually hit me this fast.
