IMHO it's one of those "depends on the kids" situations and in the end only you know best.

If I were in your situation I would put the 6yo in a kids club, my dd's loved them. Lots of kids her age and age appropriate fun activities plus a safe enviornment for her to play and have some fun. My dd's loved the clubs so much they used to ask for a "night to themselves".

If you are heading to DTD, again depending on your kids I would consider letting the boys hit DQ together. If they each have cellphones and are responsible enough to stick together and stay in DQ. This way you can have dinner nearby and some grownup time while the boys play and have some age approprate fun.

Have fun whatever you decide.

with my girls who are 12 and 13 I would never let them wonder in disney or DD Disney, notthat they are irresponsible but when we go on a family trip we consider it a family vacation to spend this time together. When we want to get away we go to Jamaica or Cancun alone. They have cell phones and a playstation 2 and laptop computers. Which the computers are a necessity to do elaborate advanced class school projects for things like science fair. My sister has kids now that she allows to wonder anywhere during vacations and they are boys but more wild, let me tell you. They have no computer or cellphones I cant get it on how they get school research that is up to date or relevant without a computer at least not one in the house. She says they do not need it ever for school. Librarys many times from my experience contain mostly outdated books.

I only mentioned cellphones so they can keep in touch, my 11 and 13yo's don't have one either :) However on vacation if we do separate cellphones are ideal to keep in touch. If you did decide to let them do Disney Quest then maybe they could borrow yours or dh's?

Woah - who suggested having the teens wander the parks or DTD? I simply suggested they accompany the parents to DTD and spending time at Disney Quest.

Lets not get into the judging shall we? The OP is considering one night alone with her DH during vacation. Not everyone can or wants to take a trip to Jamaica in addition to a family vacation.

I wouldn't let a 13 yr old and an 11 yr old be unsupervised at DQ. It's not inside the 'gated' area of WDW, (not that it's 100% safe in the gated areas) and it's dark and crazy in there. Lots of areas to get lost in, and it just makes me think that if there was a child molester on the prowl at WDW, that would be an ideal place. It's really just a huge arcade. Would you drop your kids off at the arcade at the mall and leave them unsupervised there?

Sure, they have CMs there, but they are assigned to areas and attractions, and when we were there the place seemed understaffed to the minimum it could have to stay open.

A computer is not required, the library (public and schools) have computer labs that are available to students.

Yes, like I said in my first post it definately depends on the kids - and the comfort level of the kids and the parents. Most 13yo's I know would be fine in DQ for a few hours esp with parents nearby. Certainly I am not advising anyone to do anything they aren't comfortable with - it was just a suggestion.

I am trying to think of other ideas for the op that don't involve leaving the kids in the RV. It's too bad that Disney dosen't have something for tweens and young teens like the cruise lines do. Something like the kids clubs but with an older theme and some CM supervision would be nice.

I just can not come up with a plan I would be comfortable with. IMHO too young to be alone in the RV or at DQ. Any chance of bringing grandma or an older teen cousin along?

true you do have a point about the library having computers we just never had time to sit at the library for the time needed to do an extensive project. Not being judgemental just stating what we did one year we did a vacation alone and kids stayed with grandparents this year we take them and us to Disney. Like alternating years

Ok, I was just looking at the childcare options at Allears since we will be in a similar situation in March when we visit WDW. DH and I want to dine at Bluezoo and were going to leave the kids at the Dolphin kids club but my oldest will be 13 so that's now out for us as well.

Mssandra your post got me thinking about "hiring" a helper. Kids night out and Fairy godmothers are two services that will babysit kids of any age. If your 13yo isn't oppose they can come to the RV and if you approve will also take the kids out to do activities at the resort. The reports I have read were good and folks reported that the sitter comes with age appropriate activities. The cost would be $19.00 per hour plus tip for three kids. I might look into this for our trip as well.

Here is the info from allears:http://allearsnet.com/pl/childfaq.htm
scroll all the way to the bottom past the kdis clubs to the babysitter information.

Of course 13 is a bit old for "babysitting" but you can say its for the 6yo and make sure they know they will be "entertaining" a 13 and 11yo as well.

I would agree with the poster of inviting another adult or meeting up with someone you know. You could see if another family member or friend wants to go and swap out kids for a little bit. Than each couple would get some time. Especially since it seems many of us like to spread the magic and have others who havent experienced it do so. Maybe ask if they have a service, I think I seen something somewhere about an imagineer session . As for the pop Warner incident if this happened and my kids were at the video arcade alone at the time I would probably have freaked
