Day 4 - November 5- Did you set the alarm correctly?

Well of course I did! I just didn't bother to check the volume of the radio. Needless to say our minds were made up to rise at 7:30. Since we never heard the alarm, we got up at 9:00. Today we wanted to go to Islands of Adventure. We made a slight adjustment and went to Universal Studios instead. Today we also decided that we would see Fantasmic at MGM as well. (I know what you're thinking: There is no way that you will be able to get to MGM by 5:00 with this late start this morning.)

It's been 5 years since our last trip. So there is a lot of new stuff to be seen on this trip. Animal Kingdom was in the construction process along with Islands of Adventure. We arrive at the new and improved Universal Studios parking lot and City Walk. We were really impressed with the transformation. We also realize that it is a long walk from the parking garage to the gates of Universal.

We enter Universal Studios raring to go(since it is 11:00) for our first brief survey. I hope these surveys mean something to someone. Waits on most attractions here are minimal just like Disney. We walk-on to the Hannah Barbera attraction. It's still just as good as I remembered.

This is our first time on the Twister attraction. I heard mixed reviews about this attraction. We personally thought it was fantastic especially since we were right up front to see the action. Kongfrontation is closed for rehab. We'll make sure to check out the improvements for our trip in August.

We do Jaws and Earthquake with little or no waits for each of them. Each is still a lot of fun to us. I was dying to do Men In Black. We wait approximately 25 minutes for this one, but it is well worth it. The only thing that I didn't like about it was that my wife beat me! Back to the Future is still a great attraction. Lines are still long for it as well. Another 25 minute wait.

We have worked up an appetite and grab a bite. There is a restaurant with different entrees from different countries. We choose American and have the best fried chicken and mashed potatoes ever from a theme park. After this lunch, we need to rest for a little bit. We are just in time for the Animal Planet show. What a great show!

Up next we dash for ET. I give the CM a fake name to see if I can hear my name at the end of the ride. I love the cue lines for ET. The forest smells so clean and fresh to me. My wife thinks it stinks! By the way, I never heard my name at the end of ET.

We make it to the final major attraction : Terminator. This is still the best attraction in Universal Studios. The live action and 3D effects are a great combination. Two thumbs up!

After we get out of Terminator we realize that we need to move quicker than the speed of light to make it to MGM for Fantasmic. It is 4:30 now. We gear up for the long walk back to the car and admire CityWalk. We decide one day later this week to eat and party here as well.

It's great that Universal has its own entrance ramp onto I-4. We arrive at MGM at 5:10 and proceed to the auditorium for Fantasmic. People are filing in for seats. We get seated in the second row from the front. The CM's start multiple crowd waves to entertain us through our wait. The first 3 times were fun. The next million times were annoying.

The show begins at 6:00 sharp. Words cannot describe Fantasmic! I never thought I would be so impressed by this one show. It's just so magical to see this concept of entertainment. I try to film it all on my Camcorder, except I have one little problem. We're getting more and more wet with each minute. We are determined the next time to sit near the top! All in all this is one of the best parts of our trip. We go back to the Dolphin to rest. She wants pizza for dinner. So we hop in the car and go to Giordano's after a return trip to the Premier Outlet mall Coach store for that purse she was drooling over!

when you mentioned the best chicken......I was thinking that was the name of the place.....or the meal.....had to laugh....I too love Fantasmic and it is always a thrill to watch it.....one trip my husband and I went three times to see it from different positions........thanks so much for your trip report

I enjoy USF but my favorite is IofA. It's difficult sometimes to hear your name on ET his voice is so soft.

Thanks for taking the time to post this, I enjoyed reading it very much.
