NJ Cruisers - teacher's convention question

Any NJ cruiser's know when the NJ Teacher's Convention will be in 2004? Kids will in K and 2nd grade. Would like to book a fall cruise when the 2004 dates open up and have children miss as little of school as possible. My best guess is it will be Nov 4 & 5 or Nov 11 & 12. Thanks!!!!

It usually is the first week of November. We get the whole week off (piggybacked with election day) and it's always been the first Thursday and Friday in November. I know I can get you the 2003 dates when my son gets back to school but not the 2004.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll assume that it is the 4 & 5th. I read on another post that the 2004 fall dates open up on Monday. If so I want to get our TA to book the same room we had this past year. The location was perfect for us.

What site did you go to to find those dates? I have been checking the njea.org site for months because we booked for next year in Nov. and they still don't have the dates listed. We picked Nov. 1st hoping we had the right week and from what you posted we do.

I wonder if we will always be going Eastern if we book during that week? I don't mind because I love the extra day at sea and don't care if I ever get off the boat but it would be nice if the kids were able to say they had been somewhere different.

Thank you! I went back and still didn't see a link to that page. I was looking at the events calendar and it's still empty for next Nov. I guess I can stop worrying that I scheduled the wrong week now.

I have it bookmarked in my favorites so maybe there isn't a link on the page anymore. I got this last year when we were planning this year's trip. Relax they are correct. Have a great cruise.
BTW that is why we didn't go that week this year.We had already done the Eastern 2x. We did the week after and did that week in Disney this year so we could do the Western.

Hmm, that's odd, I always thought that the Convention was the second Thurs and Friday of the month and thought it would be around the 11 and 12 next year. I have a lot of teacher friends so I'll check with them. Maybe they've moved it back a week. I was hoping it would be later because I hate having to plan for vacation and do Halloween at the same time - too much work.

You can find the list of future dates by going to the main page, www.njea.org , and clicking on "NJEA Convention" under "Quick Clicks" on the right side. Once you get to this page there is another link on the right side for future dates. It is hard to find!

Karel, a good friend of mine works for NJEA & after speaking with her, I feel confident that these are the correct dates!

I needed to know when the convention is so I could plan around it. There's no point in travelling during a peak (for NJ ) time if I don't have school age kids yet!

If you look at 2005, the convention is a week later than 2004, so maybe they have some reason moving it back a week for a few years. We been planning vacations for Teachers convention for seven years, since my oldest child has been in kindergarten, so I've been keeping track of those dates for quite awhile. As I said before, I like the later dates better.

My friend said that it's the week of election day. Maybe this is different than how they used to schedule it?

Election day is always the first tuesday after the first monday. In 2005, election day is as late as it can be, the 8th, pushing back the convention

OK Now I am confused Are those dates correct or not?? I hope so because I already planned my 2003 vacation around them.

Yes, according to the the NJEA site, those dates are correct. Yes, maybe they do go by Election Day. I know a lot of schools are used for polling places, so maybe they wrap the day off into the convention days off?

I'm sure those dates are correct. This type of event is booked way in advance. If you look at a calendar, you'll see that election day is the same week as the convention each year. It's just that election day varies a little bit.
