Nissan Sentra or Altima?

My dh has an 06 sentra. While we like it, evetytime we want to go as a family I wished we bought the Altima.
We always take my Pilot because the Sentra is not roomy enough for 2 adults and 2 teens!
Now for dh 36 mile one way commute to work the Sentra is awesome; I also drove it in the winter back and forth to Nursing School and was impressed w/ it's handling in snow!

I had a 97 Altima which I gave away (still running great) at 180,000 miles, I bought a 2006 Altima which now has 140,000, and never had a problem yet. I also just bought a 2011 Sentra for my hubby. We had a Pathfinder back in 94. Both the Altima and Sentra are wonderful cars, with great options, the only difference is the space inside the car. See what suits you and go with that. They both ride great, in fact I would say that my hubby's Sentra is a bit of a smoother ride than my 2006 Altima. When my daughter gets her license next June, she will get the Altima, and I will buy another Nissan and will probably go with the Sentra, as roominess is not necessary with my daughter getting her own car. As for the navigation issue, these days you can get Mapquest on your cell phone that talks to you, what do you really need a GPS for? I work in a bodyshop, and you can't go wrong with a Nissan, as long as you change the oil and follow the maintenance plan, it will run wonderfully for a very long time.

I'd think more about everyday driving than about taking a road trip every two years. You could always rent a big car for a road trip every two years for pretty minimal outlay overall. Personally, I've got two kids and don't mind a small car, and gas mileage is very important to us. We have a Corolla that is fine, and our kids are older now.

I'm also considering an Altima to replace our other car. Are there any tall drivers here? Dh is over 6'4" and headroom is a huge problem. He can't sit in most cars without hitting his head on the roof. I've read that the Altima has the most headroom for cars in its class--is it comfortable for you tall folks?

Nissan thread but no talk about leaf ?

I own one and believe me nothing compares to the acceleration and the starting torque of the leaf. driving the leaf is like walking in the park, The controls are soooo smooth that you could steer with your little finger. I have owned a sentra , an ultima, a versa and even a rogue but i believe the new gives you the smoothest ride. Its a great family car.

If anybody wants more details. Pm me or check my sig.

Cheers
Jason

Why would a Leaf be mentioned in this thread? It's for a family car. IMO, a Leaf is way too small for a growing family. :confused3

we are not nissan fans (had 2 altimas - both which required more repair money throughout ownership than our older 2 jeeps and 1 hyundai elantra all put together), but i would second buying a year old model of whichever car you opt for.
a car depreciates significantly that first year, and you can usually get some great deals.
btw, for a great family car, i would definately recommend considering a hyundai - the elantra more than exceeded our expectations in 8 years of ownership - still not a sigle repair, just regular maintainance  (btw, my parents bought a sonata, and love it after getting rid of their nissan - not a single problem after 4 years).
