Nine Dragons

Has anyone been to Nine Dragons recently? Friends of ours who just came back said the food was very good (we've heard terrible things about it). My sister wants to try it on our upcoming trip, but I'm not so sure. I've travelled to China and done dim sum in NYC several times - will I be disappointed or have the food improved?

I've never been to China, but we have a wonderful Chinese restaurant here (voted best Chinese restaurant in Connecticut on numerous occasions).

Nine Dragons was a huge disappointment to us. The food was (IMHO) tasteless not to mention expensive. We voted it the worst restaurant in all of WDW. We won't be returning.

But, everyone has different tastes. The only way you'll know for sure is to try it. If you do, please be sure to post your opinion. I'd like to know for sure if the food there is "authentic."

I was at Nine Dragons last month for the first time. I had read so many bad or average reviews that i have always skipped it. I read more positive reviews recently so decided to try it. Being by myself I didn't want to order one dish and some rice so I had soup which was good though not spectacular (it was a bit bland) and Dim Sum all of which very good. All of the food that was brought out to other tables looked good. It is just expensive. Fried rice is $12!!!!

We ate at Nine Dragons in December. It was our Candlelight Dinner reservations. My husband and I ordered the dinner for two crispy duck something or other. They brought the cooked duck out to the table and the chef skinned it infront of us, put the skin in little tortilla looking things with some other spring vegetables julianed (sp). Boy they were good. I could have just eaten those for my meal. Then they carted the duck away and brought back the cut up duck and more vegetable. This dinner in my opinion was excellent. I must say that I am a very picky eater and was a bit reluctant when my husband ordered it, but in the end I had tried something new and will definately order that again if they have it when we return.

Just my opinion and to confirm you never know until you try it.

I eat a lot of takeout and buffet chinese food, and this is much better. If you are unsure, try the unlimited lunch sampler. I think it was 15-17/person. If you have an AP, you get 10% off lunch. I think you get dim sum (not sure if this is the right name), lo mein, sesamie chicken, a steak dish, egg rolls, ice cream, and a few other things. It is like a buffet that is served, and limited to only a few choices. I believe there is more info on Deb Wills site. They will only bring out more of what you ask for. It is also a beautiful restaraunt. We had dinner there the first night of our honeymoon, and while it was tasty, it was way too expensive for chinese food. The counter service place- Lotus Blossom Cafe- is better priced and decent food.

Where is that restaurant in CT? If it's near me maybe I'll try it.

One thing I've learned from reading reviews on the DIS, is that opinions vary. We absolutely hated Boma, but seem to be in the minority. However, we LOVE whispering Canyon, and it also seems to get reviews on both extremes (it's a love it or hate it kind of place...).

So, I figure I will continue to read about other peoples experiences, but if I am curious, I will try a place and form my own opinion.
