Nine Dragons

We go there every trip. However, I will admit that it has gotten worse since our first visit. :confused3

On our first visit the tables were farther apart and was definitely less busy. We used to almost get the same waiter all the time and he remembers us. The food was great. The portions were perfect and the sauces were done to perfection. :thumbsup2

8 years later, on our last visit...:sad2: the tables were too close together, the food was not as good. And the wait staff seems to always be in a hurry. I have heard so many bad reviews of it. But we are hoping one day it goes back to the same quality as it was before. We still go there on almost all visits because we don't mind the food. But to be honest, I didn't even add it to our plans for the next two vacations.

Despite the often poor reviews here, we tried it and thought the food was good. Unlike most chinese restaurants, you probably need to order one entree for each person, because the portions are very small. It was also very expensive, but so is everything in Disney.

I wouldn't say it's the best chinese ever, but I don't agree at all with the poster who compared it to shopping mall chinese food. Nine Dragons is much better than that. And yes, I've eaten at a lot of different chinese restaurants, including some in San Francisco's chinatown. After Thai, chinese is my favorite food. I think I could probably live the rest of my life on Pad Thai, a good thai red curry, chinese fried rice, potstickers, and mu shu pork.

Here's my review from December.
For the record, we have "home made" Chinese food all the time (sister's friend's dad is Chinese).

Nine Dragons - Candlelight Processional Package

For the appetizer, my mom got the Shrimp and Pork Spring Roll (they are served hot).
She liked them a lot, but wished they'd come with lettuce to wrap around - less messy!

I had the Sha Cha Beef Skewers, which was one of the very few shrimp-free appetizers on the menu.
This was pretty good, the sauce reminded me a little of the one they serve with the wontons at 'Ohana.

For her entree, my mom chose the Sichuan Sea Treasures, (seafood casserole with scallops and shrimp sauteed with tender tofu, Cantonese choy sum, Chinese mushrooms, and seasonal vegetables in succulent red rice spice and XO sauce). She said it was soooo good, but the serving size was huge and she probably only ate a third of it, if that.

I had the Honey Sesame Chicken, again. I just love this. The portion was huge too, and even though I loved the dish I could not finish it. I'm guessing that this is going to be gone whenever they reopen Nine Dragons, and I'm going to miss it :(

For dessert, we tried the ginger ice cream and the red bean ice cream. I only had a spoonful of each - still getting over the banana split from last night. I liked the ginger one, but the red bean didn't taste like anything.
