After looking through 20 pages, I couldn't find anything on Nine Dragons (though I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing).

Anyway, I just made a reservation for dinner and was wondering if anyone had a review of the food and atmosphere of this place. We have eaten at a lot of the Epcot restaurants and have never tried this one. Let me know what you think.

We ate here on our Nov. trip and Dec. trip. For the Nov. trip we ate dinner with 8 of our friends. It was really good. We shared 2 of the app samplers. Then got shrimp fried rice, monganlian beef, and a few chicken dishes. It was so yummy we took my parents in here for lunch on our Dec. trip. Lunch was just as good. The food was hot and service was good both times.

Hi

The place is having a complete refurb at the moment (is it reopened yet anyone?). Not sure if the menu is going to be changed. We ate there on daughter's request during the holidays and although it wasn't bad, it was no better than shopping mall chinese food - just way more expensive of course.

It will apparrantely be open by February 9th, as I just got the reservation today. We have a party of 10 and I waited until the last minute to get reservations. They said this was the only restaurant that had any availability for dinner for a party of that size at Epcot that night (that is why I was concerned about the food).

Sounds like it shoud be OK.

I know a lot of people around these boards post about how much they hate Nine Dragons, but we eat there during every trip (except this one, I suppose). DH really enjoys it. As a rule, I despise Chinese food of any kind, but I don't mind the honey chicken there, which is about as close to a positive review of Chinese food as you'll ever get from me!! Enjoy!

We really liked it and have eaten there like 4 or 5 times. DH always gets the pot stickers and some spicy dish with peanuts in it. It's expensive for Chinese, but tasty!

We ate there in September and it was pretty good. I got the pepper steak and my mom got the honey chicken. Both were pretty tasty. The same as our local Chinese place, but I wasn't expecting anymore.

I also found a surprise there. I now know I love red bean ice cream! Who knew!? But it was very yummy. Sort of like a milder vanilla with a really cute color.

We had one of the best meals during our stay at Nine Dragons a few years ago. They have the normal offering you can get at any Chinese restaurant. But they also had specials that were very different. I had some kind of white fish in a fantastic sauce. It was fabulous.

I will definitely go to Nine Dragons again on our next trip.

I don't think it is open?

Nine Dragons Restaurant in China will be closed from January 6 - November 30, 2008 for rehab. (EDITOR'S NOTE: We have had conflicting reports about the start date for this rehab. As with any rehab/closing information, call Disney before your trip to verify.)

according to allears. Unless they have not started the rehab yet? But I would have a back up just in case they do close when you are supposed to be there. Personally we were not fans(we get great chinese at home) and this was sub-par relative to what we can get. Also it was heavy on the msg when we went. We all had headaches and we normally don't react to it at all.

It was still open when I was there last week. I had a very nice late lunch - good food, good service. There were no signs of the rehab beginning. I've heard rumors that it's been postponed until early April, but I haven't heard anything concrete. Maybe they want to get through Spring Break first?

I know there are some people who complain that they can get Chinese food of equal quality for less money elsewhere. That may be true where you live. But here in Orlando, the only place I know that holds a candle to Nine Dragons is Ming Court over on I-Drive, and their prices are very similar. Most of the Chinese restaurants here have challenges staying on the good side of the health inspectors.

I liked it a lot. It is a very pretty dining room. I LOVE the potstickers (I love them everywhere though). We have enjoyed it both times we were there.

Any other opinions of Nine Dragons?
It was fine we ate there in October. It wasn't the very best chinese food I'd ever eaten ,but it it was good.Very noisy place was busy but the service was super fast, and there was no hassling you to get more drinks every 30sec like we get at home (England)

I think the key here is what are you used to? Do you live near any Chinatown at all? If you have had good Chinese food you will be disappointed. If not it is I guess edible?:confused3

I totally agree. We weren't overly impressed, especially after really looking forward to eating here. It's average Chinese food at best and much more expensive than we're used to having.

We ate there the weekend before last ... yup, still open, no sign of refurbishment.

We eat chinese food often, and have tried tons of chinese restaurants all over. Nine Dragons is about average, but priced as above average ... in our opinions.

Probably worth trying if you are on the dining plan, but not worth the money if you are paying oop. The food is OK, the atmosphere is OK, and the service is just OK ... I guess depending on who you get for a waiter/waitress. However, the prices are such that you expect much more than just OK.

Of course, that is kind of what we have come to expect over the past few years at Disney restaurants in general ... average to below average food, atmosphere and service with above average prices. There are some exceptions to this rule, but less and less every time we go. Sorry! just my personal and humble opinion.

I just booked for February 13th so I guess the refurbs will start later than that...:thumbsup2
I love the place. The honey sesame chicken ROCKS!

After reading so many conflicting reports i wasn't sure about eating there last August, but it turned out to be one of the best meals of our trip! The food was lovely and the service was really good.
We've got a lunch adr for 12th February, which i only booked last week, so i'm surprised to hear of the possible refurb!
