Like most of you who had reservations for Tappanyaki in late Aug. early Sept. our reservations were canceled. I decided to go w/Nine Dragons. Any reviews?:confused3

we really enjoyed Nine Dragons. in my opinion, it is one of the better restaurants in epcot. the food was delicious, the service very accomidating, and the atmosphere/theming was great!! :thumbsup2

It has become a tradition for our family. It is the ONLY place DW will eat Chinese food. We love the Honey Sesame Chicken! Gen. Tso's Chicken is also good.

A lot of people give Nine Dragons a bad review on Dis but my family & friends LOVE it. We go every trip. We also love the Honey Sesame Chicken. I can never finish it so I always bring it back to the resort & snack on it the rest of the week- gotta love DVC, refrigerators & microwaves! :woohoo:

:wizard: We also had Teppanyaki reservations and chose Nine Dragons to replace it. We've been worried about the negative reviews also, but have also seen a lot of positive reviews, so we're hoping for the best. And in the scheme of things, it's only one dinner in "the happiest place on earth!" How bad could it be???

Glad to hear some good reviews of the Nine Dragons! We are trying it for the first time for lunch this September. I hope we like it too!

In my opinion. The food was the exact same quality as the $6.00 Chinese food you would buy at the mall, except this was around $20.00. It was not my favorite.

Its good and its expensive.

Better chinese can be had in the local area, thus we don't frequent it much.

However, its worth a visit.

I've never understood the negative reviews. There are fantastic Chinese restaurants near my home, and I rank this among the best ever. Even my picky daughters (14 and 10) love this place.

It is expensive but we shared 3 entries and one order of fried rice amont 5 people. No alcohol, but 3 of us order frozen drinks and it was $71 with tax and tip after the DDE discount. I thought it was a good value for us.

Most of the negative reviews are this same statement. If you order the same food as the mall, i.e: american chinese food like orange chicken, sweet and sour pork then you are going to get the same food as a mall but if you be a little adventerous and order something different then chances are you are going to get a great $20.00 meal. If you order a burger from Le Cellier its not going to be much better than a shopping mall burger either. You get what you order.

We ate there and order a little of both standard and different and all of it was fresh and good and much better than mall food. They do have a fast food venue outside of the restaurant that reviewers sometimes confuse with Nine Dragons.

It's great to hear some good reviews...we are trying it for the first time in the fall and I was beginning to second guess myself

I think it has got a lot better, we have been there and loved it. It's a little approciated gem at Epcot, but do be a bit more adventuous with your ordering, Randy is right.

We like the food there & have been twice. We will definetly be going again for our 10th anniversary in a couple years. We just haven't done it last year, when we got free DP, and this year, when we'll have the free DP again. We just want to use our TS credits for stuff we can't get every day, or wouldn't pay OOP for. Now, next year, when we'll most likely be dining OOP with the DDE card, we'll probably go to Nine Dragons again (before our 10th).

We always enjoy eating there. The Honey Sesame Chicken is good as are several of the less familar menu items. There's an appetizer for two that my DD and I usually share. If you're on the DDP, it just counts as the appetizer for both of you.

just curious, when you say "stuff we can't get everyday" what's on your agenda for ADR's. i keep trying to read the posts on various restaurants and i really am looking forward to what we have planned for our Sept. trip. so far it's:

9th: Tony's Town (which i'm having second thoughts after reading reviews)
10th: Kona for Brkfst (we love this place. had dinner & brkfst last Nov)
10th: Cap n Jacks (for dinner, never eaten here)
11th: Coral Reef for Lunch (having 2nd thoughts about this 1 2 because of reviews)
12th: Raglan Road for Dinner
13th: Cry. Pal for Lunch
14th: 1900 Park Fare ( which is actually relocated to GF cafe)

I'm wondering, would it be better to try and get ADR for LTT instead of TT?:confused3

I prefer Liberty Tree Tavern over Tony's Town Square, but actually I would suggest you just stick with what you've got. Everyone has their own opinions on each restaurant they've tried and you will find someone who likes each one as well as someone who dislikes each one.

BTW, I love Coral Reef. We've only eaten there once, but we enjoyed our meal and found the atmosphere to be wonderful.

I completely agree with you. I like Nine Dragons, and I'm Chinese. My favourite was the Peking Duck, and the Dim Sum choices. Don't often get that combination in a Chinese restaurant!

Just to let you know Nine Dragons was my DD's (age 13) favorite meal in Epcot. We ate several places but, she loved Nine Dragons and she is PICKY about her Chinese food! We both loved Coral Reef too- my favorite meal of our trip and her favorite food (lobster bisque-which she never had before). Just mho, have a great trip!
