Hey! We booked a ressie for Nine Dragons for 7 pm on August 25, which is a Friday, just enough time to eat and get an ok spot for Illuminations. Now we have been to Nine Dragons for dinner before and it was good. But it is just Chinese food, which I can get anytime around here. But I've heard great things about the Coral Reef, and I'm 99% they have availiability. Which one should I pick? I'm opting towards cancelling Nine Dragons, but any input if great! Also, what time should we book Coral Reef (if we do) if we want to catch Illuminations at 9 and get good seats? Thanks alot!

Coral Reef would be my choice. Timing is often difficult--I think I'd allow AT LEAST an hour and a half for dinner, JUST in case they are crowded and you don't get seated on time. Or if service is especially slow.

Coral Reef, for sure. And I agree, arrange for an ADR before 7PM or you risk having a much harder time finding a decent spot to watch the show, afterwards.

going to try Coral Reef on our Sept trip. We still love Nine Dragons (ate here the first night of our honeymoon in '99), but are thrilled with the opportunity to try something new, using the DP. I have read a couple of bad reviews here recently, but will stick with this ADR. There is still a good few months till we go, and I don't know that we will ever have the DP again, as we usually get APs.

I had the same dilemma. Then I was reminded that we have chinese food all the time. ( I had to agree.)While Nine Dragons does sound nice, everyone voted for Coral Reef, and They are really not fish eaters. Obviously they voted because of the experience. And yes, I let them vote because we got the free dining plan. They may never be given the chance again.

Go to dinner where you want to go. There are so many "great spots" to see Illuminations that you meal should not be predicated upon your seats for the fireworks.

Last month we were in EPCOT and had a late ressie for FRANCE. We ended up seeing the fireworks from our table! It was an unplanned pleasure (the best kind).

Another night, I went into the parks by myself to have dinner and see Illuminations. I found a great spot, met a great couple from NY and watched with them. Another great, unplanned treat.

Just go and enjoy the events that unfold.
