I get to go to school for the next two days! The Nikonians workshops are here now and I signed up for and SB-800 class and a NX2 class. I have taken their courses before and was impressed. I will be glad to share. Always can learn something new!

That should be a good one. I use NX2 almost exclusively and have loved it for quite some time. I've got Jason Odell's book on NX2 and it's pretty decent for reference. I'm sure you'll get some worthwhile pointers in that class.

Ooohhh! I can't wait to hear what you learn aboutthe SB800. I still have mine but barely ever use it. (I like natural lighting, but the real reason is I just haven't figured it all out yet!) I need to get the manual out and I was thinking of buying the DVD that Joe McNally put out...Sounds like a great class combo!

Well today was the SB800 day. I am amazed what I learned about how to adapt the flash to what I wanted it to do. Won't bore you with details right now but it is a powerful flash and system!.

Tomorrow is NX2. I did hear that the new update is coming out next month.

I guess overall I learned how to use the flash. I under utilize it in so many ways. Some of the highlights!! Pardon the pun.

How to use rear shutter to shoot a shot where ambient light is taken into account.

How to use manual settings to control fill flash backgrounds from blowing them out, to balancing them with the subject, to making it go black.

How to really use with multiple flashes for creative effects. Now all I need is three more SB800s!! LOL

Some cost effective lighting umbrellas etc.

Some great white balance tools.

How smart this thing is! AMAZING.

When to still use GN settings even with everything it does!

How to really use exposure compensation in the flash!

How to have a basic gray background and change the color of it!

I'm amazed at how smart these flashes can be too. Fill Flash is one I really need to learn about. I get the general concept but am lost as to whether you use a diffuser or not or just pull back on the exposure etc. It's my understanding that the flash will read the camera and "know" it's fill and pull back on it's own. Fill Flash is the new burning question for me, lol.

Capture NX2 Rocks!

I cannot believe how much I did not know. Control Points are the bomb!

I have so much banging around in my head to list what I have learned. Ask me questions and I will try to help!

Yep, given the chance, CNX2 is an extremely useful tool. Just be sure your pc is beefy with RAM and multi-processing power. It was running "ok" with 4GB of memory but a few months ago I bumped that to 8GB and it is actually smoking now.
