Hello everyone! I am new to this section of the boards. I just had a few questions I got my D60 back in Oct and we are going to WDW in March I still have A LOT to learn about my new baby:goodvibes I have yet to ventured to much in manual yet But I was wonder what setting you would suggest to get good pictures of people on the rides with you (like where your shooting the people behind you on a coaster?, and also what setting to get the blurred carousel pictures..... And of coarse any other info you think I should know or just want to tell me my eyes are open!:rotfl2:

I'm afraid its not that easy. It's not just a matter of what setting to put the camera on. You will often need to know what aperture, exposure or ISO setting you're looking for. I recommend reading up a bit on the basics of these camera features.

In general, you'll want a fast shutter speed taking pictures of people on rollercoasters. If the lighting is good you can probably just snap a picture without worrying too much. However, in dim lighting you will likely need to manually force the ISO high and possibly set the aperture low eg. 2.8. This will get you the shortest shutter speed possible.

For your carousel shot you will need something to stabilize the camera. This can include a tripod or something more makeshift like a railing or trash can. Depending on how blurred you want it you can adjust the shutter speed of the camera. 1/10 a second would be a bit blurred whereas 1 second would be a good deal blurred. It all depends on what look you are going for.
