Hello All!
I'm not going to do introductions, if you don't know who we are you can check out my pretrip report.
I am however going to use names, I am easily confused and know I will slip up anyway, so why try??
I first must say this is the best Disney Trip I have ever taken. Even with the grumpy men in my group. They for the most part got over the grumps and had really good days.
NOTHING went wrong, well not really wrong. It was close to perfect, cept the leaving part.
Here goes!
I got up at 3:30 November 21st to go to work. Having to be at work at 5:00 a.m. can be really trying at times, especially when you know you are leaving for vacation that day and you won't be sleeping until the next.
Wednesday happened to be payday, so I spent my lunch hour at the bank. I forgot to count all my money at the window. I like to do this there and do it in front of the camera so if it's wrong, they can look at the film and see it wasn't me. (this has never happened, but I figure the first time I don't, well, you know). I got back to work, decided I had better count it before we get on the road and I'm a couple hundred dollars short.
I pull the white money filled envelope out, OF COURSE, it's $200 short. I am totally freaking out and for some reason the yellow receipt paper they give me is GONE!
Now I'm thinking I am going to have to go back, wait until they close the bank and recount all the money before I can leave for vacation. CRAP!
Sometimes it really is true what they say about blonds.
I had the wrong envelope. This was our gas money envelope. Hee Hee! I'm a tard!
So after the color returned to my face and the tingling left my armpits, I got back to work. My mind isn't anywhere on work. And the people, Oh my gosh, you'd think they could leave me alone for 2 seconds to dis. I left at 1:30. HAPPIER than all get out to be gone from that place for a while.
Got home, packed the truck and sat and waited. The boys don't get out of school until 2:30. This was the longest part of the day.
Jay had spent the day putting a tonneau cover on the truck. You see, his dad was going to let us borrow his, we really don't have a need for one so buying one wasn't important. He said both beds were the same size. Apparently over the summer our truck grew. The day before we were to leave, they discovered it was a few inches too short!
NOT a planned expense. Oh, well it had to be done.
Finally the boys got home and we were on the road. Left the house at 3:00, hit Ohio at 3:15. This is what it looked like going through Ohio.
Lovely hey?
It took us forever to get through that state. That was the only picture I got that evening, because it gets dark so early.
We spent the evening counting Adult stores and Wafflehouses. Oh my goodness there are alot of Wafflehouses.
The boys slept on and off and I started getting tired. Robby got up front with Jay. Matt got on the floor in the back and I laid down on the back seat. It is sooooo roomy back there.
Jay said he was going to drive all night, he'd be alright. Robby said he'd keep him awake. He is quite the talker, so I wasn't too worried.
About 4:00 I woke up to us pulling into a Holiday Inn Express. 4OCLOCK and he wanted to now stop and get a hotel?? Don't think so. I am not spending a hundred bucks for 3 hours of sleep. For some reason Jay wouldn't just pull into a rest stop for a few hours
. I sat up and said I would drive while he got some sleep.
O.K. I have driven this just a bit smaller than a semi 2 times. About 10 miles both times. That's all. So here I am doing 70 down the highway, in the dark. Butt cheeks clenched, fingers white. Jay pretty much fell asleep right away. Don't know what he was thinking!!
I actually got a little more comfortable, eased the butt cheeks loose, and peeled my fingers off the steering wheel, cruised up to 80. Feeling pretty good. Oh, did I mention it stopped raining for me??
I was cruising through S. Carolina. I started getting concerned that I had missed my 95 exit. I didn't want to wake Jay to look at the map, he had done such a good job driving he really needed to sleep.
So, I kept driving. I figured if I had missed it, I should know it by the time I hit the ocean??
Well, I didn't. I drove til the sun came up. It was perfect. Jay woke up around 7:30. He said he'd drive again. We were now in Georgia. I absolutely LOVE going this way, we only have a couple hours in that state, vs. going down 75, seems like forever.
He took over driving. This started.
I guess I should have kept on going.
Guess what it was doing in Florida?
A little better. But when you cross that line, I think it should be sunny and bright with big billowy clouds. Don't you??
But really, it's alright cause we are in FLORIDA!
We just drove right by the welcome center, no OJ today, we are on a mission.
Daytona Beach.
