Nighttime Parade

It is one of the 1st things that pops in my mind when I think of Disney. Even when you start a Disney movie you get the castle with fireworks. It is iconic. But....

No doubt...but i think eventually it will be drastically reduced or line itemed out.

We are just now entering a prolonged period of price increase and cuts to everything not strapped down.

I could see them not doing them every night.

Another reason I think they have to absolutely love those "parties".

Basically get people to pay an additional $90-119 to "subsidize" the night time entertainment.

Very true...those things are in many ways the ultimate ripoff (except for the smoking tents and "after hours magic") and have saved fireworks from the axeman.

You know, I didn't even think of the dessert parties. I imagine they are making a killing on those and would lose money if fireworks were no more. Would people pay for projection and laser show parties? Maybe its a net gain to ax the fireworks and labor for the parties.

Aside from cost cutting, the only logical reason I can think of that WDW would ship MSEP westward in the first place (and would seem to also be supported by the lack of MK late evening hours this year) is that they are trying to drum up interest in AK nighttime events. If there's less to do across WDW, but ROL and Pandora are open late, guests are going to head there. They are artificially manufacturing "successful interest" in recent cost expenditures.

I would hope that once AK settles into it's permanent nighttime routine, and as we approach the 50th, management will reconsider a nighttime parade at MK.

I speculate the loss of the parade and no replacement (besides the obvious cost savings is probably) is due to:
1) Help draw people away from MK at night (its crowded enough probably and the "new" Fireworks show is) .. maybe they just want to limit the congestion to JUST the fireworks show instead of the main street area (their main souvenir area) being crammed from 8:00 PM on.

(as someone above said):
2) Help draw people to AK at night (though you'd think Pandora, Rivers of Light and the Tree show alone should do that, but maybe not)

And perhaps:
3) Pave the way for a future spring or summer "party" where they can have another paid nighttime parade like they do for Halloween and Christmas.

I'm sure the lack of a daily nighttime parade draws guests to the parties to get something else "special" that doesn't exist on normal days.

That is an interesting thought. Its going to be tough. Pandora offers 2 rides, a restaurant and a gift shop. ROL is not getting rave reviews.

You can stop at the part of your post I made bold.

The answer is always yes.

i searched this board, and it looks like a new nighttime parade thread pops up every couple of months. Since it looks like it was last brought up in July, it's time.

So, will we never see another light parade? Is Disney on record in any way? We haven't been to WDW in 12 years, and there better be a nighttime parade by our next visit in June 2018! :furious:

Rumors point to 2021 at the earliest.
