Unfortunately no fireworks or shows, but depending on when you are visiting, there may be concerts as part of the Summer Concert Series or hard ticket events like Mardi Gras or Halloween Horror Nights

No fireworks displays and the only night time show is the Universal 360 Cinesphere show at the Studios ends in mid-August...the 14th I think. Other than Mardi Gras and hard ticket events like HHN, there are no evening shows.

There aren't any shows or fireworks but I'm not a HP fan (but gave birth to two) and even I found WWHP quite magical at night. And of course the heat is better after dark!

What is the Universal 360 Cinescope?

What is the Universal 360 Cinescope?

It's a show that features lasers and pyrotechnics while scenes from movies are projected on large floating "bubbles" in the lagoon. It's not the greatest in the world but it's worth seeing once.

So if you are staying onsite, how far away is the shopping/restaurants that arnt onsite ? Walking distance ?

Can't remember what the place is called but it isn't the hard rock or the Italian themed one

Ie: is it easy enough to exit the park at night and explore ?

If you are talking CityWalk...it's a relatively short walk from any of the onsite hotels.

If you are talking about a mall or anything on I Drive, it's not a short walk to any of the shopping areas outside the Universal Orlando resort. You would need transportation to get around.
