I have read several times that to get a seet for the night show at MGM you should be at there 1.5 to 2 hours in advance. Being the mother of 2 very busy boys 6 and 4 years, I have no idea on what to expect and how I am going to keep them occupied for that length of time. Help? Any suggestions?

What I would suggest is if you are on the DDP, or have a bit of extra cash do the Fantasmic Dinner Package. This will help cut done on the amount of time you spend sitting in the Fantasmic theatre. They have a special seating area reserved for those who ate at Momma Melrose's, Brown Derby or Hollywood and Vine that evening. I think you get a special bracelet.

Also it really depends on the area where you want to sit. I worked Fantasmic three months in a row, and truthfully there is not a bad seat in the house. You DON'T want to sit up front with two boys that young. There is a large DRAGON that literally breathes fire, and lots of WATER! So I would recommend towards the back of the theatre anyhow. You will also be closer to the restrooms!

Good Luck and Enjoy the Show! It truly is Fantasmic! I miss it so much!

Last year we went with a large group and we only went about 45 min ahead and there were still seats open. I think it just depends on the time of year

yes depends on the time of year and how big your party is. This july I arrived last minute and was able to find 3 seats..thats all I needed. But previous years when my other boys were 5 and 8, we arrived about an hour and half early. Hubby went and bought some food and we were sitting in the front so the boys kind of ran around with thier night time glo sticks having fun. It actually wasnt that bad with their ages. Last year I had an almost 2 year old so 1 hour wait wasnt feasable. Luckily I found three seats right before the show started.

When we went in June we easily found seats at the hour mark. I believe it was full about 15 minutes later. When we have gone early May, you can still get seats at the half hour mark.

It is a great show!

I second the recommendation to do the Fantasmic Dinner Package if you can afford it. We did this on our last trip (May). They didn't give us a wrist band but we had a special "pass" we showed the CM at the gate. There's a special place to park your stroller for those that have one, and when we entered the theater, it was already packed but there was still a lot of empty rows in our seating area. We only had to show up about 30-45mins in advance if I remember correctly. It was the most no-stress way we could have done it. As a pp said, w/little ones you probably don't want to sit to close to the front as there is a lot of water spray and some of the special effects are rather intense but it's a great show and definitely not to be missed.

hi

we went last oct to fantasmic and had something to eat at the cs places outside the entrance to fantasmic then walked in around a half hour prior to the show and got seats no problem at all.

there are places to eat inside the theatre as well and there is usually some good crowd antics and atmosphere going on that may keep your kiddos occupied, ie mexican wave etc.
dont miss the show though and it may be a good idea to sit further back than too near the front.

hope this is helpful.

Thanks for all the responses. I wish I would have know about the dinner that allows seating at the show previously. I considered rearranging my meal plans but I can't. But I will keep it in mind next time. I feel a little better now.

Thanks again

It all depends on when you go. Both times we went to Fantasmic - Sept 2002 & Sept 2006 we got there about 30 minutes or so in advance and had no problems finding seats. There were 4 of us last fall that went. I liked the show much better in 2002, but that's because one of my best friends was a character working at MGM and played Mickey in the show. Actually she's played all the Mickey's in the show. So it was really cool seeing her perform. But it is an awesome show.
