I'm starting to plan a trip for next year and wondering when NBC overlay for Haunted Mansion and Monster's After Dark for Guardians of the Galaxy typically happen. Ideally I'd like to be there when both are happening if possible. Do you think the 2nd week in September would be a good option? Thanks!

Monsters After Dark happens during the Halloween season (usually August through the end of October).
Haunted Mansion Holiday goes up around August and comes down usually a week after New Year’s.

Both of them begin at the start of Halloween time, this past year Halloween time started Friday of Labor Day weekend. In the past it usually started Friday after Labor Day. NBC is up through early January. MAD runs through the end of halloweentime.

How far in advance does Disneyland typically announce ride closures? I'm specifically wondering about when Haunted Mansion will be down this Aug/Sept to convert to Nightmare Before Christmas.

They get announced when the calendar releases hours which is on a day by day rolling basis about 6 weeks out. Typically HM closes around the 20th and reopens the day Halloween starts which has changed over the years.

Thank you! That short timeframe makes it a bit of a challenge to plan very far in advance.

Haunted Mansion is one of my favorite attractions (in either format). If we end up going in September I want to time it to not miss being able to go on it.

The D23 Expo is the weekend of Sept 9-11. I think its a pretty safe bet that they will have Halloweentime started by that weekend, probably on Friday the 9th if not earlier.
