Alright all you photographers, I need some help!
I just bought a Panasonic Lumix FZ35. It's an interesting camera. I bought it because it has point-and-shoot characteristics as well as advance video recording capibility (hoping to ride myself of my video camera and just use one piece of equipment). I'm LOVE photography. I take about a zillion pictures, and actually do quite well just pointing my camera and shooting. I have even been asked to photograph a wedding, and people's children, all simply by pointing and shooting. I have NEVER messed with shutter speed, or apertures, or even shot in "scene" mode!!
Well, now, I have seen all of the wonderful night time pictures listed on the DIS boards, pictures of fireworks, and artistic photos that show movement and light and so on. Fortunately my new camera allows for manual settings (something I've never had on a point and shoot before) so I will be able to get those great night time shots.
But um...how do I do it?
I have researched and think I know the basics of shutters and apertures, but since you guys have taken pictures where I'd like to take pictures, what are some tips? Please keep in mind that I am beginner! How do I get great fireworks photos? How do I keep people from walking in front of my camera while a slow shutter is set? How do I keep my pictures from blurring? Any help is SO appreciated. I'd like to practice some in town before doing it at Disneyland. Sorry for the novel!!
