Well, the tide turned against genre programming a little this past week. Night Stalker and Threshold, the best of the new genre programs IMHO, have both been cancelled, and Alias, the doyen of the genre programs, will end its run in May. With Surface sucking wind, and Invasion plodding along so slowly that many of its viewers are nodding off, things don't look good overall. While Lost is still doing great, it is beginning to look like it might be alone on the primetime schedule next season.

Somehow I'm not too surprised by Threshold. I love the show, but then CBS moved it to Tuesday nights. I didn't realize it and missed a couple of episodes, so I wonder if the same happened to many other fans.

How long has Alias been on? 5 years? I think that seems average for a genre series. I just think it's a shame that Threshold got the Earth 2 treatment from CBS.

Based on the pedigree of the producers and the cast, I had high hopes for Threshold, but gave up on it after three episodes. It devolved into cliche much too quickly, and there was never any feel for the characters despite the strength of the actors.

Invasion still holds a low spot on my TIVO season pass, but to be frank, the fault lies with the writing on that show. If invasion was a book instead of a program, I would have skipped to the last chapter by now to see what the twist is. The show, while conceived well, is not executed on a weekly basis with enough skill to draw viewers in. I still don't find any of the characters compelling (MHO), and I'm ready to knock it off my active list after next week if the plot doesn't pick up a little pace.

Now on the other hand, Lost..........wonderfully compelling and one of the rare shows on television that requires total concentration if not multiple viewings to fully comprehend everything going on.

Obi-Wan; Do yourself a huge favor, and get a TIVO....it's a viewers best defense against the network's habit of randomly switching shows or discovering that a new episode of a favorite show is instead a repeat. Mine is celebrating it's 4th birthday in our home next month, and I have never missed a show I've wanted to see in the last four years! (HINT!!!!!)

Doesn't surprise me, neither of the shows held my attention for too long, Lost is getting the same way now, I fall asleep during it!

I missed the first season of Alias, but really got into it after that. I have to admit though, the last season was too over the top at the end, with their "28 Days Layer" ripoff.

Invasion and Surface were deleted from my DVR series to record about a month ago. They're alright, but they're no "Lost."

Where did you hear about Threshold? All I can find is that next week's episode is canceled and there are rumors of the show being canceled.

Due to a two-hour Amazing race and the CMA's, Threshold has only had 1 Tuesday airing.

I caught the pilot of threshold and I loved it. It quickly degenerated in a formulaic show and I ended up not following it.

:confused3 yet we still have freddie.....

Exactly!!!!!!

That was my thought the day it was announced that Freddie was being picked up for a full season. That happened to be the same day that the imminent cancellation of Arrested Development (greatest show currently on TV, imo) was announced.

I wish I had not read this as over here in UK Threshold is just starting and we were looking forward to it. I am not sure we will bother now. We love Lost, 24 and 4400 so hopefully these will keep coming.

Let us know if there is anything else worth watching.
