Night Parades

People who have shot the night parade and the Magic Kingdom. At what f/stop have you been able to capture images without a flash. I am considering the 24-70 2.8 or the 50 1.4

I did Spectro Magic with a 70-200 f4.0 lens. I wish I had upped the ISO more. I got decent shots, but I have definitely seen better.

I'd go with the 50 f1.4. If you have a high end camera, your iso should allow better pictures no matter what lens you use.

My strategy was to shoot the parade in the Tv mode (shutter priority) to prevent blur. I used my Sigma 30 f1.4. I set the shutter speed to 1/100 sec., ISO 3200 (just for fun I did boost the ISO to 6400 for some shots as a test to see how far I could push my new camera) and let the camera set the f-stop. The f-stop ranged from f2 to f8. Here's a couple:

Another vote for the sigma 30 1.4, the 50 was just not wide enough so I brought the 30 last year and loved it.

Yes, both handheld. ISO 4000 on a Nikon D700.
