DO you have to be staying on property to be able to win a night in the castle?? I would assume by talking to you first and finding out where you are staying would depend if you win or not?

We are NOT staying on property this time.

They don't talk to you before you win, and where you stay has no bearing. If you're in the right place at the right time, you win...that's it! Correct seat of a ride, drinking from fountain A at 10:02, or whatever it might be that day.

The prize is given randomly and the time and place of the choosing is chosen by computer. Once they talk to you you've already been chosen and will only be turned down if you refuse it or have a relative that works at Disney, so it does not matter where you are staying. In fact remember that many are staying at home since they are residents. You will have the same chance at winning than anyone else who is there at the time.
