April 21st. Today my older daughter turns 4. After her birth, I spent 2 years losing the weight. I lost close to 80lbs.

Then i got pregnant again. This time at the end I was diagnosed with late onset gestational diabetes. I had a doctor tell me today she believes I have metobolic syndrome.
Which fits because I am having a really hard time losing the weight this time.
Down 46lbs (249 on last day of pregnancy) but it's not from eating right. I am having a REALLY hard time staying away from fatty or high sugar foods.

I recently started going to the gym, most nights its just a power walk or some mild cardio, but 20-30 min is better than nothing. I have an 11 month old and I can't go til DH gets home at night.

I'm also tired all the time. I'm still breastfeeding some.

I'm hoping to lose 35lbs by Oct.
Ideally, I would like to weigh 145-150 some day.

I'm so frustrated right now with how I am eating.

Hoping that by creating a journal here I might meet more friends and be motivated to get my health in check.
I suspect I have high cholesterol, and might be developing a resistance to insulin. So I need to just get tough on myself for a few weeks and see what I can do.

My daugher's party is this weekend, that will be hard- why do people always have to ask you why you aren't having any of "insert food- pizza, cake, etc"

I WILL prevail! But right now, I had no sleep last night due to baby and obnoxious cat and 4yr old who woke me up this morning. So Im going to take a nap.
But maybe a walk later on...

Good Morning!
I got a short walk in last night, it was pretty dark out there. I didn't go far, but a walk outside on a road with a slight incline to it.

Well, I got more sleep last night, so feeling in better spirits this morning.

I plan to have steel cut oatmeal this morning. will either go for a walk or go to gym tonight.

Nicole,

I just wanted to say...good for you! Your health is so important. You should be proud of yourself for making that a priority, even with a busy life.

I also wanted you to know that you have friends out here who are cheering you on. You can do it! :cheer2:

This year has brought a renewed commitment to my health as well. After some "female problems", a minor surgery for said problems, borderline high blood pressure and a 15-20 pound weight gain, I figured I had to make time for my health. My son is older than your children--he turns 13 next month--so it is easier for me to make time even with a full-time job. But I remember when he was younger and how much harder it was to spend time on yourself.

Just keep your goals in mind. Your health and longevity are most important.

Keep it up!

Cyndi

Thank you!
It's been tough, despite going to the gym and watching what I eat, my weight isn't dropping, I had issues with my first too as long as I was breastfeeding.
I have nursed my second much longer. She is 11 months now. I would like to be done in another month. But she is having eye surgery, and I had thought she would want to nurse while going thru that, but as of today her surgery (scheduled for tomorrow) was canceled, and wont be rescheduled for a month.

So I may need to just move forward with completely stopping (Im down to 2 or 3 times a day)

sometimes I only get to the gym for a 20-30 of cardio- and it could be at 9 at night (24hr gym that is 2 miles from house)

I recently started doing steel cut oatmeal for breakfast and some fruit.
I am also making an effort to cut out sugar/sweets.
DH is NOT helping in this area, he brings stuff home.

I also just bought a package of personal trainer sessions to really help push me.

I've started making my own muesli. I get everything in the bulk food section of my grocery store. I find oatmeal gets really old after a while. Just let me know if you want the recipe. It's really just dry ingredients sifted together. Super easy!

Remember, getting to the gym for 20-30 minutes is still really good. Don't skip just bc you are short on time. Small steps!

I used to work out with a trainer about 8 years ago. She moved and I never found anyone I liked as much. But the lessons she taught me have kept me going on my own. I'm so glad I did it.

I'd like to lose 13 pounds by August. I know that sounds completely doable, but the scale hasn't moved in weeks even with counting calories and working out like crazy. But my clothes feel looser so I'm hopeful.

Keep moving!
