Some of you might remember me. I posted a thread a while back that was quite depressing, and much to my surprise several of you PMd me and gave me what I would call, email notes that felt like cyber hugs of support.
Someone suggested Dr Phil's book. I didnt take her up on it right away, but 2 weeks ago I saw his show and he had his siblings on granted, they were what I would consider seriously obese and were in great danger of serious health problems. A nephew weighed close to 500lbs and 2 sisters were over 200lbs. i understand that losing weight for them is a little different than me. But I need to do something now, so that i am not faced with that challenge, and I do not envy anyone who has to alter travel plans, or life plans because of their physical size. I only wish them success.
Anyway, I went and bought his 2 books, the food guide and the Ultimate Weight Solution.
My husband decided to do it with me.
We are on the Rapid Weight Loss Program currently- Ive lost close to 7 pounds in the first week. Yesterday we went to a new church and then that evening a bible study in someone's home, not knowing we would be expected the second half of the time to eat and get to know others, we were introduced to a table of chocolate, my husband was suppose to be my supporter!! But his weakness for chocolate runs deep. We each ate 2 different kinds of brownies, plus a piece of chocolate cake (we actually did not try a vast majority of the items there!) I felt sick when we came home, we went for a rigorous walk last night (had already gone on one during the day) Ive been crampy and sick most of today.
For those of you who are not familiar with Dr Phil, his diet does not allow anything sweet, and no breads or processed carbs. Lots of fruit, veggies, and plain meat.
First I HATE salad, I did okay the first 2 days, but the third I was fighting that feeling of gagging while trying to get the salad down, I decided to make some different veggie choices after that. But I am happy to see that I have been having some success.
The night before the diet started i weighed 175lbs, I am 5'5". During the morning/day I am now at 167.5, at night I am about 168-169lbs.
We are leaving for Disney World May 5th. I would like to be at 160lbs by then. I have 15 days. I am not going to do anything extreme, just exercise 5 out of 7 days in a week, and keep following this. At the end of the rapid start, I think I will switch over to a cross between this diet and a WW diet, this way I can balance things a little, like swapping one dairy item for a WW ice cream. A far cry from Ben and Jerrys, but better than nothing at all.
I have to say other than today I have been feeling better too.
I know last time I went to WDW, in Aug, neither of us drank enough. I dont think I used a bathroom even once in the parks (we stayed at parks for the whole day) I was constipated for the first 4 or 5 days. And I did soooo much walking, I couldnt understand how I gained weight when i got home. Now looking back, I think it was not A. eating enough veggies and B. Not drinking enough water. I plan to do a lot more drinking of water on this next trip. I can eat salads or cold veggies, I just cant eat them everyday.
is anyone else walking in preperation for their trip? How many miles do you try and do each day before you go?
One thing I notice is that my DH walks faster than I do, and that can make me try to keep catching up to him- unconciously- Im going to try and stop doing that, and just walk at my own pace, if he gets too far away, he'll just have to slow down for me. Otherwise I will do that same thing as last time and keep pushing myself beyond what is good for my body, or enjoyable.
Cant wait to go, but really want to lose the weight first!! Ill like my swimsuit better if I do.
When I get back my goal weight is 150lbs- so I would only have another 10lbs to lose when I get back. Thats a really exciting thought to me!!!
But I really want to stay out of that rut where I get so depressed I dont want to get dressed in the morning. And the best way to do that is to keep losing. Im so happy that by increasing exercise to a reasonable amount (Im not killing myself on the treadmill, or doing the 45 minutes of aerobics) Im take the dogs for a nice brisk 1 mile walk each day, or maybe a go quick bike ride. Its hard on the days when weather is lousy- I really enjoy being outside, the treadmill is such a boredom to me. No, music doesnt make it better, and theres no TV, I hung a tack board with some WDW postcards as inspiration, but that only worked the next 2 or 3 times I got on, now I think "nice post cards, cant wait to go, man, is 20 min up?-Nope, still have 18 more to go" LOL.
But Im gonna keep trying!!!
