Nickelodeon Game Shows

I learned some interesting facts on Nickelodeon game shows and some of them you wouldn't believe the stories behind them. Take for example on Legends Of The Hidden Temple some of the contestants that did the final round of the game were freaked out so much by the temple guards that they would actually scream and cry if they lost and in one unaired episode a contestant got sick in the final round she quit because she didn't feel well. But Double Dare had the most interesting facts during the show's run. Take for instance during the obstacle course a contestant almost died from a neck injury during a fall doing a challenge on the obstacle course and the parents got money from a lawsuit they filed against Nickelodeon regarding their son's safety and led to Double Dare asking parents for a doctor exam for the kids who were auditioning to be contestants on the show. I think stunts like these led to Nickelodeon game shows being cancelled and later adding safety rules for every game show that kids auditioned for on Nickelodeon

Double Dare was the bomb! Nickelodeon hit gold with that one.
Many years later I discovered that host Mark Summers was dealing with OCD for decades. Brave of him to be on that show of all things.

Every time I see Marc Summers he reminds me of Jeremy Renner and I think when you look at Marc Summers and Jeremy Renner side by side you see a lot of Marc Summers in Jeremy Renner right down to the curly hairstyle and I think Jeremy Renner copied Marc Summers in many ways. I wonder how Jeremy Renner would do as a Nickelodeon game show host for a future game show? Probably pretty good in my eyes. I got to see an episode of Legends Of The Hidden Temple today and I noticed that two new challenges were added to the final round and they were finding a key in a wall painting and a secret password challenge where the player had to find a tablet with a password then shout the secret password to open a door. Did you remember this?. If Paramount+ were to have a classic Nickelodeon game show section added it would be a hit of nostalgia for 80-90's kids

We were in the audience for one game show during a Universal visit way back in the early 2000's. Wish I could remember which show though, someone got slimed. Fun times.

there used to be a whole channel that ran episodes of the old games shows: Nickelodeon G.A.S. (Games and Sports). I spent HOURS watching Legends, Global GUTS, What Would You Do?, Wild and Crazy Kids, and more!

I always wanted a piece of the Aggro Crag from GUTS, thought about what talent I'd have the panelists guess about me for Figure It Out, and I felt deep down that if I were ever face to face with those three pieces for the Shrine of the Silver monkey I'd be able to assemble it no problem!

I read an article once that the Legends contestants were absolutely exhausted by the time they got to the temple. That, coupled with the creepy guards and the relative difficulty of some of the puzzles given the age of the contestants, really affected how successful teams were in winning the grand prize ("You're going to SPACE CAMP!"). I can't remember the exact numbers, but the temple had like a <30% win rate.

I was absolutely devastated when they shut the channel down, but it's nice to know some of the shows are living on via streaming. I gotta see if there are some more on YouTube cuz I'm trying to scale back my monthly spending on streaming services (but that's a topic for the budget board :P)

I also loved Double Dare as a kid. I lived in Orlando and would see the Nickelodeon Studios stuff when they moved to Universal here. and was even one of two bleachers full of kids on the show "Outta Here" in one episode. Our 30 minute game show took 6 hours to film!

You like Legends Of The Hidden Temple too Scottie? That's my favorite Nickelodeon game show too and I watch it every morning on Paramount+ and even my mom loves it too? If I was playing Legends Of The Hidden Temple I don't think I could do the Shrine Of The Silver Monkey but the hardest challenge I've seen is the Medusa's Lair challenge and the Dark Forest challenge on that show because it seems that's where the Temple Guards easily are and got the players out. I mean if you or your partner have a Pendant Of Life I don't see how it helps you in that challenge

I began watching Nickelodeon Guts a week ago on Paramount+ and it's really exciting and I thought it was a ripoff of American Gladiators but with kids and I think Nickelodeon got inspired to create this show from American Gladiators in my mind. And I know that there's an episode where an NFL player is a guest cohost and commentator. How did Nickelodeon Guts exist in history?
