anyone have any suggestions as to room location requests here? we will be there one night before our Disney stay in September in order to take our 4 year old to the ninja turtles dinner and bikini bottom breakfast.

Quick question, I'm also thinking of coming in a day early and maybe staying here before going to Disney. Do they offer transportation from the airport? How do you plan to get to Disney the next day?

the plan was to use the magical express but now we will do one of two things.

drive down and then obviously drive over but we live in Atlanta.

if we fly we will probably get a cab from airport. i know nick has shuttles to the Disney parks so it wouldn't be too bad to take the shuttle to the magic kingdom and then take a bus to whatever resort. personally i would do cabs though.

Honestly, I would cancel Nick and extend your stay at Disney.
Do an extra character meal at Disney or take him/her to The Pirates League or Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique and let them transform him into a pirate / princess for the day.

We checked in Nick for a weeks stay and left the following morning. The rooms were VERY outdated, filthy. My husband wouldn't let our son take his shoes off in the room.

The property is in need of a serious upgrade.

Then they nail you with the resort fee daily on top of your room charge.

We lost a lot of money by leaving 6 days early as we booked a package deal through the resort. But we weren't staying there the whole week.

You need to read the reviews of the hotel on sites such as Trip advisor , Expedia , etc... trust me they are accurate.

i don't want to rain on your parade but our experience was awful. We don't expect to stay at the Ritz but this was far below any expectations we could have imagined!

Just be aware that they charge extra for poolside rooms and for certain character painted wall rooms. I would never want a poolside room as it is way too loud facing the pool. It has gone downhill, but the breakfast food has never been good. Years ago we liked to stay here and enjoyed it. I keep hearing it has gone downhill but haven't experienced it first hand. Keep a good eye on your kid as there are so many screaming kids around that place that it would be easy for the wrong person to walk away with a kid and no one would notice and if they did would just think it was a parent taking away a bad kid.

We stayed for 3 nights last year - glad we did for DD to experience it but will never stay again. It is in serious need of repair and updates. The pool area is nice and many of the buildings are in a square around the pool area, but there are two pools - we were in a Fairly Oddparent family suite around the main pool with the slime thing. I think Spongebob rooms are already more than standard rooms so you should call and ask where those rooms are.

Funny thing - the elevator near our building had a picture of Patric on it, but there was grafitti and Patrick's pic was peeling. It was so sad every time the elevator opened, thepicture would peel some more. By the time we left he looked so pitiful! This would NEVER happen at a Disney reort!

We stayed last September for one night in a spongebob room. Everyone woke up the next morning sick from mold. It is terrible, I guess families come from the pool and just lay their wet clothes all over the place. The bed in the master bedroom was broken in the middle, and I kept waking up in this 'crack'. My husband ended up on the floor because it was more comfortable. I had the worse crick in my neck after that, and woke up several times that night, so didn't sleep well. I would definitely do what the previous poster said and read as many reviews as you can. We did, but only after we had a not great experience and vowed to never return. My husband was so upset that I didn't even get to take pictures of the statues they have around property.

I was set to book the Nick hotel, but after reading reviews I got scared, and kept reading and reading...it's about 50/50 good vs. bad...that is NOT normal! Found Fantasy World Resort, the pool looks fun like Nick Hotel, any other hotel we look at looks too boring to the kids now. Any reviews on that resort?? Any other suggestions for a suite w/sep bedrooms and at least a fun slide or something in the pool? Getting excited about a full kitchen now too. Kids are 14 11 9 - will spend most days at theme parks, very small amount of time in pool and don't need any other "activities" at the hotel/resort. Thanks!

ok...so i will admit to being a hotel snob and these reviews scared me. also found similar ones on other sites. i was not expecting the ritz here but i just don't think i can do it. i hate this hotel for requiring a nites stay to do the darn character meals. they have ower rangers in oct! :sad1:

really glad i posted here. i was ready to say...we will deal with it for one night but these posts got me to look harder at reviews. i felt badly that my son will miss out on the characters but then remembered he is going on an amazing Disney vacation and will be fine. so thanks everyone. think we will try universal in the next 6-8 months and maybe see some of the characters there. :)

Glad to be of help! I'm sure at one point they were a great place. But, they did not do the up keeping necessary. I was shocked to find out the building was completed and opened in 2000. It seemed like at 25-30 year old building rather than a 12(at the time) year old building.

add us to the group that was scared away by reviews. We had planned on a short stay last Easter when we went to Universal. After seeing the reviews and all the upcharges we asked a travel agent that we know that lives in Orlando. He said that he would not recommend staying there.

it is really a shame! only place i can find to see ninja turtles, power rangers, or all the spongebob guys. if it were a nice or even decent place we would gladly pay $$$ to stay there. wish we could do that character stuff w/o staying there. i think they are really missing out with parents of boys. we love Disney but the nick characters really cant be beat if you ask our son and his friends :confused3

They won't even let you on property unless you have a reservation. They are terrible!! It is a shame they have all that. Universal has spongebob and Patrick, but no turtles or power rangers. Too bad Epcot got rid of them.

Been a few years since we were there but if I still had family with kids that the Nick were age apropiate for I'd go.

Who is the trip about? The adults or the kids? Do the kids care about the potential grossness? No they don't and the Nick has stuff to offer no other place does, so suck it up for a night and let the kids have a ball.... have 3 or 4 extra cocktails and deal with the less than pristine conditions.

Adults might stick their noes up at the Nick, but I've never heard a kid say it sucked :thumbsup2.

I agree! My 6 yr old daughter has been wanting to do the Nick forever. We are doing 1 night in October. We will suck it up and tough it out. My kids will only be little once. We are not doing Disney this trip. It is a budget trip with Sea World and Aquatica.

Yes, but it's still a shame that it's in this condition. Those are such popular characters :(

Before it was the Nick hotel, it was the Holiday Day Inn Suites. We have stayed at the Nick hotel several times before it started going downhill. I hear mixed reviews from my friends. I guess it depends what building you get. Two summers ago my friends went to the cheer camp there called CheerSurge and said their room was okay. The last time we were there Patrick on the elevator was peeling off and sounds like he either still is or the fixed it and he is peeling again. LoL. Such a shame that they could have done much better with the hotel.

I think you made the right choice. I think many travellers are in your predicament and go through a similar process. They are great at marketing their hotel but no good at running the hotel. We eventually came to the same conclusion and glad we did. Rolled the dice on Priceline and got a magnificent hotel just the same.
