We are leaving in a few days and not going into any parks. Our trip is mostly to visit family but we figured we could take a few days to do a little something else. We decided to stay for just 2 nights at the Nick hotel.
But we were just reading some reviews and some where horrible.
I know that some people can have a bad experience anywhere. Also that once they start to be upset, then every little thing gets blown out of proportion.

Has anyone been there recently? Is it really bad? Should we be worried?

I just returned from a stay there the end of July. I too read the reviews and they didn't look real good. I was worried. I went with an open mind and was quite suprised. Our room was in building 5 lower level. Everything was clean and in working order. The room was a little worn and did have a few holes in the vanity and the door in the bathroom. My DD had a great time in the pools and waterparks. The pools were clean. The waterpark area was hosed down and cleaned every morning. The pool games and sliming was fun to watch. We also watched the dive-in movie. People did hog chairs they didn't need and left a mess for the staff to clean up. The mall area was loud. The charcter meeting was well organized. They start lining up early. The shows were fun. We only got to go the main one though. The Sponge Bob one was sold out. I suggest that you make reservations as soon as you check in at the concierge desk. We only stayed one night and missed out on alot because of it. My DD had fun in the arcade and the food court was reasonably priced. I thought the sit down resturants were way over priced. We had dinner outside of the resort and bought breakfast items at Publix.

My only complaint was the crowds of FL residents there. It was a weekend and most were there for the weekend and from FL. I think most are in school now. My second complaint was how loud the mall area was. It's the same as a food court in WDW though. It's not Disney and doesn't come close but it was fun. I don;t know if I'd go back because my DD isn't into Nick all that much and what she is into isn't represented there. It's geared toward little kids. If you have any specific questions let me know. I hope this helps and your family has a good time.

We were there Christmas 2010 and had a great time. The kids were enjoying the Nick so much, they didn't want to go back over to WDW...(we still had Disney tickets too! :sad2:... )
My little guys loved the shows, so I'd try to make that a high priority!

The rooms were fine, no a deluxe, but a "solid" moderate level. I guess that could vary from room-to-room though.
Food court is noisy, but quality was good. The folks at Subway were outstanding.

We have always enjoyed our stay @ Nick Hotel. My kids still ask to go, but with having timeshares, we haven't, but may still make a two day trip in the future. I believe it is the best because the kids are always occupied and they have the best pina coladas, that keep me occupied.
