Nick Hotel save your money

I agree, public displays of drunken behavior is unexceptable. Why didn't you state the specifics in your previous post.?.....TAZ

Wow!!
This just tells me that I will be sure to try and go back in Dec. again. No fat hairy guys at breakfast, didn't see anyone drunk, smoking wasn't an issue and the staff were everywhere and would of dealt with it. Your post sounds like some cruises I have been on but not the Nick hotel.
I'm not sure if we were just lucky because we had such a wonderful time with Dora and the gang. I am recommending this Hotel to everyone we meet. When I read post like this I'm thinking maybe I should be sure and mention that we went at Christmas time...The whole Disney trip including our wonderful stay at Nick. was the happiest place on the earth.....How blessed we all were..It was a trip to remember!!!!

I kind of rushed through the first post. Like I said, I have no problem with people drinking responsibly and didn't stop to think that someone may interpret it as any drinking, smoking etc.

We really only had neg experiences on the weekends. The weekdays were great. I've been recommending the hotel also, we had a blast. I've also let people know what we've experienced/ noticed. It really did seem like there were 2 distinct types of clientele (sp?). It seemed that some of the people who stayed on the weekend were looking for a babysit or for their kids to stay out of hair, kwim? We didn't get that vibe the rest of the week.

My DD has been begging to go to this hotel. She has seen the ads of course and they did exactly what they were supposed to to, grab her and then have her talk to me into staying there.

We go to Disney a few times a year and I figured why not do one night there. That is all I would give them though I need my Disney Magic and SpongeBob just isn't that kind of a character :rotfl2:

I pretty much expected it to be sub par of a Disney hotel so I guess I am not going to be surprised.

I agree, we were just there Saturday night. We'll never go again unless there is a $80 or less rate. That's what this hotel was worth to me. Our room was actually quite clean and fresh. It was just after you stepped out of the room everything was complete chaos. Crowded pools, average food, and rude people. My kids loved it...this will definately be a ONCE in a lifetime experience. Oh yeah, it took about an hour to get threw the check-in line. The character breakfast is hard to do if you're not pushy and willing to leave your table to go track down a character. We waited 45 minutes and no character came to our table. I finally said something to the waiter and eventually we got a pic with Dora. Our rented house in Formosa Gardens was waaaaayyy better than this and cheaper too!!!

Well maybe if you don't go during the "Busy Season" you won't have the overcrowdedness now would you?!? We are going in September and I will NOT not go just because of it not meeting "your expectations"! :smooth: My family and I plan to have a good time and if we don't, we will still find a way too!!!!! :teeth:

We spent the last 2 nights of our vacation at this hotel - this past Saturday and Sunday nights. I don't think I'd go back.

Totally chaotic. Music was very loud at night - was finally turned off at 11:00 pm. They had a "dive in" movie. We went to watch but couldn't hear anything because of kids screaming. Was sure the pool was over the capacity.

Long line ups on the slides - seems kids butt in line - lifeguard doesn't say anything.

Nearly impossible to find a lounge chair - people put towels on them to "save" and come back hours later. 80% of the lounge chairs were like this - towels but no one sitting on them.

Take your own pool towels - the ones provided are very small and scratchy.

Umm, is this meant to be rude? Isn't the point of this thread that people are sharing their reviews of this particular hotel?

BTW--have you checked the DIS signature guidelines?

We went last Lune for 3 nights. 2 adults 3 kids. They loved it and still ask to go back. I thought it was fun very colorful and decorated nicley. Room was very nice. Only one thing happened. Toilet issues form the moment we arrived to where at night I was so freaked out by the sounds it was making I put all our luggage up on the couch. At about 3:00 a.m. I heard dripping and swishing sounds. I looked in bathroom at tub and toilet were both overflowing. This really freaked me out because who knows what was in that water, good thing I put my luggage up. I called front desk and 5 minutes later a handy man came and a bellhop to mover all our stuff. Yes was inconvienent. But can you imagine in it took hours for handyman to come or to locate a room for us. We were moved and enjoyed the rest of our vacation. Even with that experience We still have very good memories and would go back for 2-3 nights and then go somewhere a little bit more low key like a timeshare rental.

well now Im seriously nervous. I just made a spur of the moment reservation online to spend a sunday night there later on in June. it was expensive to me $260 a night for the spongebob room but the kids have been pleading with us to go. we figured with their good grades, etc we would reward them. Now I am nervous that I made a mistake and should of just gone to disney... :confused3

We are checking in two weeks from today and I'm really anxious to see what all the fuss is about. I'm going with an OPEN mind and expect it to be a bit crazy. It's all about the kids

Hi,
Keep checking the rates. Call them don't just go by online. I think it might come down. But any way your kids should love it. This place is awesome..but it is still June and that is a busy time. Plan on a good time and you will have one.
Carla

Im going to keep a open mind. we are coming in on a sunday so hopefully it wont be too bad. its only for one night/2 days. I think the kids will have a blast no matter what.. It is pretty steep of a price but I didnt want to wait until sept- pull the kids out of school and god forbid we have a hurricane. that always seems to be my luck when I plan any trips in sept.. so June here we come!

We just got back a few days ago from the hotel! My kids had a blast!!! The one restaurant (where they conduct the character breakfast), we ate at several times, and they had a sign up that says shirt and shoes required, so maybe things have changed, and people are not allowed to go in and eat while sitting on their swim trunks. Now, I did notice alot of people smoking, my father is a smoker himself, and I thought it was strange to not have "designated" smoking areas, due to the fact of kids, babies/infants, pregnant woman, etc, etc, but it did not really bother me too much. I preferred the smaller of the 2 pools though, because it was less crazed, and mostly a younger crowd of kids, versus the older ones who can get alittle more rough when they get excited. It did not seem as if there were alot of parental supervision there, but the lifeguards were pretty ontop of things, but I think they have to be so no one gets hurt. We just went for an overnight though from Saturday to Sunday, so I can not really comment on the remaining parts of the week.

The only negative thing I can say, was that at 4 in the morning the fire alarm went off. I woke up, grabbed the kids and ran out like a mad woman. It went off for 10 minutes or so, then stopped. No fire trucks arrived or anything, which I was surprised since an alarm was going off in a hotel. Never did hear what happened, but I am assuming it was a prank from some kids.

Blaze- you must have been there with us this past weekend! We ended up on the sidewalk waiting to hear the " all clear" from the firemen as well.

We enjoyed our stay as well- the fire alarm notwithstanding. It was such a fun place for kids!

We're heading to Nick Hotel for 7 nights in August. We were going to split our time between Nick for 3 nights and Portofino for 4 nights, but my mother is coming along with us and felt the Portofino was too much $$$ for her to get her own room. :p At the Nick Hotel, we're staying in a suite so it's not costing her anything. We were originally paying $315 at Nick but when we called to extend our stay, we were able to get the price down to $192. I'll keep checking and hoping the price drops even further. My mother has decided she wants her own room at Nick anyway and that's only $160 for a non-suite room. My 3 kids are so looking forward to staying at this hotel so I hope everything works out well for us. The kids compare everything to the Hard Rock (favorite hotel) or the Disney Magic (favorite vacation) so hopefully they won't be disappointed.

It's all for the kids!

If anyone has any must sees or must-not sees, dos or don'ts, I'd really appreciate it.

well I complained to guest relations for the past 30 minutes regarding the rate dropping for the night we will be there. Looks like the will drop it $40 to the rate of $220 plux tax for the spongebob room. guess its better than nothing. :confused3

I just replied to another post about the nick hotel but will add my two cents here as well. Kids loved it-parents didn't!! Room small for "kid suite", food fair-even if kids ate free, buses slow, music around pool loud. The laundry rooms weren't in each building so it was a pain to have to carry laundry very far too. We were there in January for a conference (it was one of the conf hotels and we thought the kids would like it) so crowds weren't an issue. I thought for a renovated hotel the rooms weren't much at all. We paid a conference rate of $179 I believe. The kids liked having slime time by the pool and that stuff. I would rather stay in DVC properties or onsite next time.

i just reserved a 3 night stay in August for $166/ night which is the chaepest that I could find before the kids go back to school. I found a rate of $125 for September. My kids love Nick and the characters. i will be going up for business and DW wants to surprise the kids. I hope everything goes well. I am sure no matter what my kids will love it!!! :thumbsup2
