We've booked a suite in March and I was wondering about the pool. Will it be warm enough at that time of year to use it? Is the water heated?
The kids are looking forward to it, so we hope so!

We swam in one pool mid Feb 2005 (as only one was open then). The water was so nice and warm that even DH, D-MIL, D-FIL and I went in. Warmer than I expected. The air was a bit chilly, but not too bad IMHO. We are going back in early March 2006. We thought the pool was great and had to drag the kids out.

Hello. I was just curious, if you don't mind sharing, what rate you were given for March 2006. I have just started looking into a spring trip and hadn't even heard of the Nick hotel until now. I looked it up on the net and looks like a place the kids would love. But when I try to get an idea of how much for the room, it only goes to 2005. Also, we want to do Disney and Universal, is this hotel convenient to both?

Thanks for any info!!

Sorry I can't tell you the going rate as we are using Priority Club points.
My DH travels and stays mostly at Holiday Inns/ Holiday Inn Express so that we can use the points on vacation. I know it is close to WDW, not sure how far to Universal. The food was not very good when we were there, but I read somewhere here on the DIS that they have new management who is going to work on that. Drinks by the pool were pretty good.

OK, got curious and looked on line. Found rate of $225 for a kids suite in mid March 2006. I found the rate on their website. I think it is the rate where you cannot change or cancel. Otherwise it is $249, for a flexible rate (less restrictions I believe). If you need help with specific dates pm me and I can help you look them up.

We went in March 2003 and swam until midnight every night except the first night. The pool was warm, but the air was cool that first night. The pools are awesome!

We too are using priority club points. If my husband must travel, at least we have perks like these and air miles.
I think I'd stay onsite WDW if I had to pay these prices.

That's a large part of the reason we are not likely to go back to the Nick Hotel - that and no free breakfast any more and the sucky, expensive food.

But the theming is great for Nickelodeon fans. Our kids have grown out of that by now, for the most part.

We also still like the rooms at Nick, but you can get two value resort rooms for the same price or less, and have two bathrooms!

MI-Mom- thanks for the offer looking up pricing for me ! :) The more I think about it, I think I may stay onsite at a value resort and then find something offsite near universal for a couple days. We dont' spend much time at the hotels we stay at, so I guess I can't really rationalize spending that kind of money. In 2003 we stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and it cost us a fortune and we were never in the room, as beautiful as it was. If only I were rich.............:)

Thanks all for the input !

Disneylover70, no problem. I wish I was independently wealthy too.

kccmommy, that's exactly how I feel. We sacrifice by not having DH home during the week and our reward is lower costing vacations - free hotel stays and airfare. We've stayed mostly onsite before DH traveled, but now use the points. Where else have you stayed in Orlando using points? We stayed at a
Staybridge Suites this past Feb and it was fairly nice and came with a free buffet breakfast.

kath1210, I agree the room set up is nice...but 2 rooms with two bathrooms at a value sounds like a good option. We may have to try that sometime.

I have a Nick Trip slated for February 06 using PC points as well. There is absolutely NO WAY I would shell out $200/night for this or any HI considering I could book two AS/PC rooms for less (or stay at WL, AKL, etc). The only reason I even considered the Nick Hotel is because they had "points nights" available. Though I must say, I love the layout of the KidsSuites. I am looking forward to the kids having their own space.

Thanks to all for the wonderful "Nick Hotel" info. Every tip helps :sunny:

I just got back from a weekend at the NickHotel. It was awesome, the pools are warm, the hot tubs are hot, but.....the slides and ALL that water that is poured on you while standing in line is NOT heated, and even though it was nice and warm outside, when the sun went behind the clouds (and at night), it was downright chilly. I would say the temp outside was about 88, so when the sun was out it felt good. It rained while we were standing in line for the slides, and I couldn't tell if it was raining or just the constant spray of water from the slides. We cut our evening(around 8:30) fun short because we got too cold.

I personally would think it silly to stay at this hotel, and leave to go to WDW or somewhere else. The prices are very expensive (I got off season AAA discount for a one bedroom kidsuite for $180)., and it just doesn't make sense to just sleep there and swim a little. This hotel was a destination for us, and we never left the grounds. I am a value hotel/off season/ gimme a discount kind of person, so when I am paying $180/night, I am figuring the cost of a nice room and admission for four to a water park with added entertainment as my justification. It cost a lot, but we got a lot. And this is one of those save all year for it things.

The food at the buffet sucked, by the way, but I guess you have heard that already. I am not hard to please, when someone else is cooking I'll eat almost anything!! But this food at best was tasteless, at worst just plain yucky.. That is my only complaint. My kids (and DH and myself) had a ball. The staff was great, decor-great, entertainment-fun, loved it.
