Nick Hotel - Just Back! - UPDATED WITH PICTURES

We're just back from 7 nights at the Nick Hotel. We had a great time! If anyone has any questions, I'd be happy to answer them.

My dd and the 12 and 11 year are going to Universal Studios for 1 day and the rest of us plan on hanging out at the hotel. Can we all fit in a suite and is there enough for us to do all day without extra cost?

They do have a 3 bedroom suite which sleeps 9. We had a 2 bedroom suite--3 kids in one room and then 2 in the master bedroom. We had bunkbeds for my two boys and then my daughter was on a fold-out bed in that room. I think the sofa was a sleeper but did not check.

We actually stayed at the hotel for 2 days without ever leaving. They do 2 shows by the pool each day, plus a sliming in the afternoon at the pool. There are 2 different shows at night as well. There are characters in the "mall" each day as well as different kids craft activities (extra $) each day. We just hung out at the pool as my kids did not want to see the characters and we didn't want to do the crafts.

There is a sit-down restaurant plus a buffet restaurant and a food court. You can have cartoon drawings done, balloons made and there is a kid spa with nails, tattoos and hair braiding as well.

I would love to hear more about the kids spa. I have an 11 daughter would she like it? I was thinking about having the kids' faces painted before we go to MNSSHP. Do they paint faces like they do at AK or is it just tattoos?

The one thing I noticed about the kids spa was that it wasn't very private. It's in the main mall and it's open on two walls. If your daughter just wants to have her nails or hair done, then I think it's ok. But if she's looking for a "spa" experience then this wouldn't be the thing for her.

I'm not sure about the face painting. My kids aren't into that stuff so I really didn't look into it, but I don't think it was available.

To be honest, I'm not really sure. There is an outside entrance to the mall from the parking lot. They give all guests wristbands upon check-in. No one ever asked to see them but they could have been looking for them. To make reservations for the shows they ask your name, suite #, etc. With the exception of that and the character breakfast, I'm not really sure what you want to do there w/o staying there. They do have a manned security booth when you pull in. So I'm not sure if they would let you through without being a guest or not.

Can you tell me about the character meals, cost, food, etc.

I believe the cost for the characater breakfast was $17.95 per adult and $10.95 for the children. It was a buffet breakfast, with your usualy standards. Nothing exceptional. There is a variety of different characters, including SpongeBob, Fairly Odd Parents, Dora, Chuckie, Angelica, Blue. All of the characters walk around with the exception of SpongeBob who stays in one place. They each have handlers that walk around with them. The characters did not give autographs, but if you went to see SpongeBob, they stamped your book/paper with the different autograph stamps.

Kids do not eat free for the character breakfast.

For the buffet restaurant, kids eat free and the adults are somewhere in the $15-20 range for breakfast and dinner. In the Nicktoons Cafe the kids eat free for dinner only if they order off the kids menu. If they want the buffet it's $6.95. The adults can eat off the menu or order the buffet which is themed and changes each night.

There is a coffee place where you can get muffins, croissants and there is also a convenience store where you can buy cereal, milk, etc.

Sounds like you had a great time, I wonder if we ran into each other??? How did you find the peanut allergy thing? We only ate there one time this time around, they have changed it and my kids didn't want to eat off the menu, they wanted the buffet which we could get cheaper off site. The mass sliming was new this year and the kids loved it. We always got the perfect spot.

FYI, there is a Super Walmart right around the corner too and I think it is open 24 hours. They also had a great selection of souveniers at much better prices than Downtown Disney or the parks.

From what I understand the restaurant called "The Buffet" is temporarily closed. We went for dinner there on Sunday night to find it closed indefinitely. Not the Nicktoons cafe with the nighttime buffet where kids eat free, the one across the hall.

Hi, happy to hear you had fun!
We are heading to Nick Hotel in November with our 3 children (13,7 &4).
We plan on "hanging out" at the hotel the first 2 days. I was also trying to avoid the expense of renting a car. My question to you is - will there be enough to do at the hotel for 2 days(without a car)?? (After the 2 days we are heading over to Universal to stay at the PBH). Also, should I arrange for character breakfast (worth the $)? Any info provided will be greatly appreciated!!!

We stayed at the Hotel for 2 days without every leaving. My only concern for you is: in November will it be too cold to stay in the pool all day. The two days we stayed at the hotel we were in the pool pretty much the entire day. There is a small mini golf court, a basketball court, pool table in the pool area. Also your 13 year old will be able to use the hot tub but not the younger ones. This was strictly enforced while we were there. When we were there they had 1 poolside show in the afternoon and 3 shows in the evening (indoors). They also run kids crafts programs but I believe there was extra $$$ involved. I'm not sure what their November schedule is like. They had already started cutting the activities while we were there.

About the character breakfast, my 5 year old is afraid of the characters. We did the breakfast anyway and she seemed to have a good time. The 10 year old enjoyed himself and the 8 year old had fun too. It's not a gourmet meal but it was a fine time anyway.

We had a great experience with my son's peanut allergy. At the buffet restaurant one of the chefs came over and let us know what was ok. I believe all of the food was ok, they just recommended he not eat the desserts. They offered to get him ice cream or an ice if he wanted dessert.

The same with breakfast, everything was ok except for the baked goods. At the Nick Toons Cafe the chef came over and spoke to us about the foods the first time. After that we just asked the waitress to see what was ok for him to eat.

They do serve Smuckers Uncrustables in the Nick Toons Cafe for dinner.

While we were there the buffet was open each night but then at the end of our visit it switched to only Fridays and Saturdays being open.
