What is the nicest (newly renovated/clean,etc) hotel within 10 minute walk to the parks? Thanks!

We like the Candy Cane inn. We have stayed there at least 10 times and always have a wonderful stay. Our second choice is the Castle Inn. It is newly renovated. Candy Cane Inn is not newly renovated but is wonderfully kept up, spotless and does not feel dated. Both hotels are about 5-10 minute walk to the parks. Candy Cane Inn is on the park side of Harbor so you don't have to cross the big street.

My family and I have stayed at Fairfield Inn a couple of times and have really enjoyed it. We generally prefer Marriott hotels because we've always had positive experiences with them. Fairfield Inn is an easy walk to the parks.

We are going to be staying at the newly opened Springhill Suites on Ball Rd. next week. I will try to remember to post a review of our stay/experience there when we get back. We are using points but the average nightly rate is $189 per night. We also have APs yet so our only expenditure for this trip is food. Their website is shsanaheim dot com.

There is another Springhill Suites on Harbor which should be more convenient to DLR that is already taking reservations for November 23rd and beyond. I was able to book the government rate for under $100! This is the main reason I booked it. We didn't even have a Christmas 2014 trip in the work before I saw this great rate. Normally, it's around $180 a night. If the grand opening is delayed, I will just move my dates when they do open. Their website is springhillanaheim dot com.

Our absolute favorite hotel is the Grand Californian which we were able to afford staying at during Dapper Days. But, since both the Springhill Suites hotels are brand new, I wouldn't mind staying there as a much, much, much cheaper alternative. They offer free breakfast and did I mention, they are brand new ;)

Hope this helps.

Let us know how that walk is to the parks.

If the distance was important and new, I'd look at the Indigo Hotel. It is very newly remodeled (formerly a Holiday Inn), other than that I'd look at the Best Western Plus Park Place Inn and BWP Anaheim Inn.

we stayed at the ramada inn maingate earlier this year and we liked it! when we stayed we had the option to stay in a "superior" (renovated) room, but we chose a regular, non-renovated room just because it was cheaper. our friends chose a superior room. but both rooms were very nice, they serve a pretty decent continental breakfast and it's right across the street from the parks.

I'm seconding the "please tell us how your stay was" because I'll be staying at the Springhill as well when we go in August. I've stayed at a few of the other Marriott's at Disneyland, but never at a new(er) one that looks pretty modern, so it'll be nice to see how things are like the customer service, parking situation, breakfast, cleanliness and whatnot. It would be much appreciated! But have an awesome stay.

Hotels on Ball Rd. are a long walk from the park entrance. Most are at least 10 minutes to the parking garage and you can hop on the tram to DTD close to the security gates to the Esplanade, or just continue on for another 10 minutes or so to the parks. There is not much over there on Ball Rd in the way of restaurants, convenience stores, shops, etc. It's a pretty isolated area. We stayed there once and it was a long and lonely walk to and from the parks.

Nice is somewhat in the eye of the beholder, but I'd vote Fairfield for a newish, corporate chain hotel experience. Best located too; better than HoJo or Candy Cane - almost right at the cross walk. We stayed next door at the Camelot and liked it fine but you might not consider it "nice" enough. Same for the Castle Inn and it's not located quite so close.

The Fairfield is .25 miles from the crosswalk, while Candy Cane and Hojo's are .33 miles. (ie 2 mins further.) All 3 are nice, Candy Cane offers breakfast, Hojo's and Candy Cane have free parking, and all 3 offer free wifi.

I also like the Hilton. It is further away, but the rooms are nice.

We always stay at the Candy Cane. The rooms are small, but the staff is excellent, the place is very well kept and clean, free breakfast, free parking, free wifi.

Are you talking about the Mickey & Friends tram? If so, how do you get to the tram area without going all the way to Magic Way?

For the OP, I missed where you said you'd paid $85 for the Fairfield. I've never seen rates that low there. Even $139 would be the low side of their normal rates.

We stayed at the Park Vue when we went (April 2011) and it was perfect for the distance to the park. It was across the street from the entrance (it's a bit of a walk just to get to the entrance, but that's true of any off-site hotel).

I would caution that this is more of a motel than hotel, so if that's something that'd bother you then check out other options. We were there overnight, and they had bunk beds for the kids (which was a huge hit). My memory was there was a welcome pack (snacks & bottled water), and that they offered a free casual dinner (which we didn't particularly care for, but it was free).

We're going back for Star Wars Celebration in April 2015, and that time we're booked at the Doubletree Anaheim Convention Center. Using them partly for convenience to the convention, and partly for Hhonors points; Disneyland is a lesser priority this trip but we'll catch one of the shuttles over the park in the evening.

I love the Best Western Park Place Inn (BWPPI). It's a good, basic motel across the street from the parks. They have a continental breakfast that's pretty decent. The rooms are big, and they've got good customer service. Their pool is small, but good. They also offer a AAA discount. Hope this helps.

It is Marriot's best rate guarantee. I've done it frequently, but it takes a little work. This is from their website:

Find a lower hotel rate and we’ll match it + give you an extra 25% discount.
There are few guarantees in life. But our Look No Further® Best Rate Guarantee is one of the best. It assures that you’ll always get the best rate available when you book directly with Marriott®. Here’s how it works:
Book a Marriott room using any Marriott reservation channel (Marriott.com, Marriott Hotel Telephone Reservations, or directly at a hotel).
If within 24 hours of making your reservation, you find a lower hotel rate for the same hotel, room type and reservation dates, and submit a qualified claim form, we’ll match the rate + give you an extra 25% discount on the room.

We've stayed at the Best Western Park Place Inn & Suites three times (Sept. 2012, Dec. 2013, March 2014) and have our 4th stay (Sept. 2014) reserved. It is right at the stop light to cross Harbor Blvd; cross the street and you're at the park! We've always been pleased with our accommodations, the cleanliness of our rooms, and the friendliness of the staff; the complimentary breakfast is an added bonus to fuel up before starting an action-packed day at the park. I made my most recent reservation by phone rather than doing it online and received a better rate. Possibly because we're returning guests, but also because we won't have a car at all during our stay. I stayed one night in May at the BW Anaheim because the Park Place had nothing available and it was fine too. My preference, however, is the BWPPI. We've stayed at the Candy Cane twice and it's very nice also, a little further walk if that's important to you - and it's becoming more important to me as I, ahem, age....

We just booked a room at the Anaheim Plaza Hotel... it looks close to the parks, not sure how updated it will be though....

How far is the walk to the entrance? Are they as far as Fairfield Inn just on the opposite side?
