HI! I'm from Pa and I'm trying to decide which beach to vaction at this summer. We usually vacation for 1 week at Ocean City MD. We love it there and think its nicer then any Jersey beach but I'm just wondering if there are any other nice beaches further south? We have never been to virginia beach, myrtle beach or any other beach south of MD. Any tips are greatly apprecieted!

Sorry, can't help ya! We're OC MD people too! We're headed down for a weekend in May...can't wait!

I've heard Tybee Island and Folly(spelling?) beach are supposed to be really beautiful. Years ago, my parents visited Flagler Beach and got to see the shuttle launch from where they were standing. To this day, they still talk about how nice it was there.

We love Corolla in the Outer Banks. But you have to like your beaches quiet and somewhat empty.

We used to go to Ocean City also and loved it there but the prices were getting so high. We've gone to North Myrtle the last few years and like it very much. The prices were a little better, nice beach, golfing, outlet shopping and lots to do there. Only drawbacks were that you have to drive everywhere and I do miss the OC boardwalk.....Thrashers fries and stopping at Assateague National Seashore.

We've gone at the end of May, early June and late July and haven't experienced any of the "rednecks" mentioned by another poster.

Litchfield/Pawley's Island, South Carolina

Quiet beaches, lots of rental houses, but you are still close to the shopping & attractions in Myrtle Beach (25 minutes) and Charleston (an hour+)

Surfside Beach just a few miles south of Myrtle Beach SC is really nice :goodvibes You get all the benefits of Myrtle Beach but its a lot cleaner and less crowded.

IMO I would rather visit a beach with a boardwalk so I like the Jersey shore or Rehobeth DE. I'm not really a sit on the beach kind of person, I'd rather walk the boardwalk

We are HHI people LOVE IT:thumbsup2

Heading to OC next weekend though. We live in Md and it will be our second time there. Didn't think much of it the first time, and stated I would never go back, however DH and I want to have a quick weekend getaway, and it needs to be close.

We love the outer banks of North Carolina. Specifically, we go to Southern Shores near Duck.
