Going to visit both WDW and Busch Gardens Tampa
Looking for a nice place to stay for 2 nights, not too expensive, that can handle a family of 6.
We would prefer around $100/night and free breakfast for beginning of November.

Am I dreaming?

If you're wanting an actual "resort," than honestly, most likely. However, since you're going in early November, a typically slower time for Orlando, you may be able to find some deals. Are you wanting to stay half way between the two, or in Orlando?

Would you consider Priceline? If you choose the Disney area and 4 Star hotels, I know that often times you can get those as low as 70$. You wont know the actual hotel you'll get beforehand, but you go from this list from bidding for travel to know what typically comes up.

Hilton Bonnet Creek
Hilton in the Walt Disney World Village
Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress
Marriott Orlando World Center
Walt Disney World Dolphin
Walt Disney World Swan
Wyndham Grand Orlando Resort, Bonnet Creek
Possible: Waldorf Astoria Orlando

Hope this is helpful.

I wish people wouldn't try to help if they're not sure of their facts. The hotels you list are categorized by PL as resorts and not as 4* Hotels. You might "win" one of those hotels for $70-$100. Those hotels charge resort fees and/or charge for parking. The total cost per night will exceed $100. The OP asked about free breakfast. Those hotels don't offer free breakfast. In fact some of them don't even offer low cost breakfast options.

The OP is a family of 6. PL guarantees double occupancy, most Orlando hotels will accommodate 4. Your suggestion will require bidding on two rooms. Cost will be at least double their budget.

There isn't that much between Orlando and Tampa. You'll probably get your best deal near WDW. You need a suite type hotel. Check the suite chains like Hampton. Embassy Suites are generally more then $100 but you might get lucky.

edited to add--PP is correct there is at least one hotel on the list which doesn't both charge for parking and also charges a resort fee. You don't know, in advance, which hotel you'll "win". You have to budget your bid assuming you may have to pay a resort fee and for parking.

there is that new resort area - okay can't remember the name - it is in Polk county before you get to Davenport. (I think)

but still alot closer to WDW than BG

wrong county - Four Corners In Osceola

Okay, so I did go out to Travelocity and checked the site using 2 A and 4 Kids as my criteria for the first week of November. I found that Lake Buena Vista has a 2 BR for under $100 put there is $11 resort fee and no free breakfast. I also found Comfort Suites Maingate East for $80 and that does have breakfast but is not really a resort.

Now I assumed you had 4 Kids and not 4 Adults so if you do have more than 2Adults these options could be higher. I would also never suggest just taking my word on it either :confused3 but calling the hotel/resort and making sure of the facts prior to booking.

It would be better to stay near Orlando and go to Busch Gardens :) Usually you can find better rates out by WDW than you can in Tampa. :yay:

Wow. Get off your high horse. They are 4* in some cities, resorts in others.

The Hilton IN the Walt Disney World does not charge a resort fee so your using of "and" is incorrect. Maybe you shouldn't try and help without all the facts?

It must be exhausting having to be right all the time. :headache:

Most of the resorts charge both. A person bidding must be prepared to pay for both parking and a resort fee. The Hilton sometimes offers rates under $100.

I try not to post unless I'm sure of my facts. You listed the wrong PL category for the hotels you listed. You ignored the fact that the OP needs accommodations for 6. Is looking for free breakfast. Needs to consider the cost of a resort fee and parking fee when bidding.

I must be missing something. I don't think your information is of any help to the OP.

I've used PL for hotels in Orlando. You can great deals. I'd never use it if I was looking for budget accommodations for a family of 6.

I'd look at any of the suite hotels. The OP will hit a "home run" if he gets lucky and finds an Embassy Suite running a promotion for his dates.

We could have an intelligent discussion if the OP was looking for accommodations for a family of 4. Most of the hotels in Orlando will accommodate a family of 4, even if the guest booked via PL. You might get something for an $80 bid, which will allow enough money to pay most of a resort/parking fee. One might think the extra money is worth staying in a "real resort".

Well thanks for clarifying. I didn't "ignore" any facts, I overlooked them. And with 16k+ posts I'm sure you've been wrong before (though probably only once, right?)

That's good of you though, you should really make a habit of being a pompous !@# to people who voluntarily post and try to be helpful to others on a website that you sponsor. That's good for business.

Have a good night.

P.S. Is this you?

Gracious.

To the OP - I apologize if my post trying to be helpful was offensive to you.

My sister just came back from Florida, and used the Friends and Family rate at a Holiday Inn and suites overlooking Busch Gardens. They said they loved it. The rooms are big, and have a mini kitchen with 2 Queen beds and a fold out couch in the living area. Here is the link to the one they stayed at. Said it had nice little tiki bar at the pool as well. I would def do a search for the friends and family rate on this board as well.

No, that's not me.

Have you ever used PLs NYOP for hotels? If your "bid" is accepted your credit card is immediately charged for your entire stay. The amount you bid plus taxes and PL fee. PL won't give you a refund if you call and say you didn't know the room won't accommodate 6 people, didn't know the hotel charges for parking, has a resort fee or doesn't offer an inexpensive breakfast. Had the OP blindly followed your advice they'd be out around $180-$200 for their PL reservation plus the cost of whatever accommodations they booked instead. Immediately bidding for a second room and you run the risk of splitting your family into two different resorts.

I posted the way I did because your advice could have cost the OP $$$$.

If I wanted to mimic your posting style I'd post a cartoon of a monkey typing on a keyboard and ask if that's you. Posting random gibberish.

I don't think I would have even posted if you just got the PL rating for the hotel wrong. There are very few 4* hotels in the zones near WDW. Chances of being upgraded to a resort are great.

Again following your advice could have cost the OP $$$$.

Had I made the kind of mistake you made I would have deleted my post.

^ Funny how you can never have met a person, yet know everything about what kind of person they are.

Here's some advice to you. Next time you see a response from "MattM" anywhere on the DIS, just breeze over it, and by all means, DO NOT RESPOND.

I truly hope that, one day, you can find something that makes you happier than being a jerk on an internet board.

Good luck with life! I do truly hope things get better for you.

Back on topic.....

I have stayed here before and it is very nice. I don't remember breakfast being included but it was many years ago when we were there. Request a room away from the bar :). It can get very loud, that I do remember. :)

I suggest you put me on your "ignore list". You won't have to read any of my posts. I won't be doing the same. I don't want others to base their decisions on faulty information.

My first posts only commented on the faulty facts you posted. You decided to comment on the kind of person I am and post a borderline rude cartoon.

BACK ON TARGET. Is the OP spending 2 days at BG? Getting a hotel near BG makes sense. One day at BG and the rest in Orlando. Probably get better deals on hotels near Orlando.

Embassy Suites is probably the nicest suite type hotel. It's probably a little over you budget. Look, you might get lucky.
