Hi all, i'm going to the world 8/31-9/10. Were staying offsite at the courtyard marriott village. I would love to take my fiance to a nice restaurant for once. We don't ever have time to go out and when we do it's red lobster or applebee's. I would love to take her dress shopping and get her something she would feel beautiful in. Because were offsite we would go to the park that day, come back to hotel room to get ready, and leave to go back to the park for dinner. I need a good restaurant that is nice...(I would like to wear a nice sport jacket and slacks...keep in mind I never get dressed up). Please help with suggestions...I'm prepared to make ADR's ASAP...thanx again

I've heard that Bistro (France), Calif. Grill (Contemporary), and Artist's Point (Saratoga) are all delicious and romantic, but they are somewhat on the high side pricewise. I've also heard rave reviews about Victoria & Albert's....but that is REALLY expensive. I don't know how hard it will be to get ADRs, but it's usually easier in the signature restaurants. Narcoossee's and Citrico's in the Grand Floridian, Flying Fish on the Boardwalk, and Jiko in the Animal Kingdom Lodge, are also supposed to be great. Somewhat less expensive is Kona (Poly). We were there many years ago and enjoyed it, but I've been reading great things about it lately as well. I would assume that Kona would be less formal and would have more kids around than most of the others. What a nice idea!
I'm sure your fiance will be thrilled, wherever you end up taking her!!

Thanx Gina!!! I have them all written down and will do some research. As far as I'm concerned price is no matter I just want her to have a great night. I've heard of victoria and alberts; is a sport coat and slacks formal for this restaurant or any of the others suggested. Are any of the disney restaurants black tie ( I don't want to bring a tux or wear one for that matter)? Thanx again for all the help

You might find this link helpful in your research
http://allearsnet.com/menu/menus.htm
It has all the menus (most with prices) and areas/parks/resorts they are located at.

BTW...sounds like a beautiful idea! Can I give you my Hubby's number and you give him a little "hint...hint"??

Artist Point is at Wilderness Lodge.
And it's lovely. WL is a very romantic resort to me.

I would go to California Grille! Very romantic  (yes, a little pricy, but you want something special) and if you time it just right you can get a window seat and watch the fireworks pixiedust: . The view is beautiful up there weather you see fireworks or not  . Just remember to give yourself plenty of time to get back to the restaurant from your hotel :moped: . ADR's are a must for the Cali Grille, so you would have to book them very soon (you will also have to secure your reservation with a credit card (which you can cancel 24 hours before the time of arrival if you need to :wizard: princess: .

For the kind of experience you're describing, I would go with V&A's if you can afford it, it sounds like the kind of experience you're looking for.

My first recommendation would be V&A's - if a formal dining experience is a priority for you, then the dress code there should be your cup o' tea. Plus the food is amazing; none of the other dinners on our WDW trips even compare to V&A's.
I think my second recommendation would be Citricos, if you want a quieter, more romantic atmosphere. Restaurants in the parks (generally) tend to be a bit louder & more casual, b/c even those like Bistro that say they have a dress code will seat people who are dressed very casually. We've been in Bistro & had a fellow diner who was wearing nothing but a string bikini, flip flops, and a sheer sarong. The in-park restaurants also seem to have more children in them, if that matters to you. California Grill has fantastic food, but is very popular with families because of its great view. We've found Citricos, in our 3 times there, to be a bit quieter & more adult oriented. Plus it's inside the Grand Floridian, which is a destination in & of itself.
Cheers!

I would go to Artist Point or California Grill. The food is outstanding at both of these spots. They are just fancy enough for the sport coat and nice dress. They are both expensive, but shouldn't break the bank like V&A would do to our family budget. I would look at the menus and decide what interests you more.

Our favorite fancy spot is Artist Point. We really like the woodsy feel and the food is sooo good!

Definitely California Grill and make a reservation about 1 -1 1/2 hours before the MK fireworks are scheduled to go off and ask for a window seat when you check in. You'll both love it!

My wife and I enjoyed the Flying Fish after a day in Epcot and Narcoossee's was also very nice in the evening.

BTW, do you own said hatchi roku that your name impies?

No, definately don't own a hatchi roku. I just enjoy seeing them drive...I own 2 cars a 1990 FC-3S and 2006 Honda Civic SI (Daily Driver).. Thanx for your advice and to everyone...keep it coming...i'm taking a poll and also lookin at the menu selections..

V & A would definetely be my recomendation if you can afford it, probably the best meal I've had in my life and very romantic. The ladies even get a rose at the end of the meal and due to the strict dress code, all diners are formally dressed.

If it's too expensive, any of the signature restaurants mentioned in above posts would also be a nice meal.

sounds like your looking for Victorias and Alberts my fiancees favorite restaurant anywhere daveb

Victoria and albert's I think is going to be our choice...but nothing is set in stone just yet....Do you have to wear a tie to V & A? Also this is in the Grand Flordian...it doesn't take any kind of special pass or ticket to get into the resort to eat?

Nice, I love FC's and FD's. The new SI seems really nice--love the seats.

Back on topic, Arist Point in the WL seems to get consistently good reviews. We will be eating there for the first time during our Feb. 07 trip. Check the menu on that one too.

At the Grand Floridian there is Narccooossee's a mouthful! Here was our expereiince, our DS 10 was with us but...romance filled the air anyway! A waterside window table allows oyu to have a great view. The water parade and after dinner you can step outside, walk along the deck, then the best part, view the fireworks form Magic Kingdom. The resort screams out romance in my book and dinner was lovely.

The atmosphere is so relaxing and not noisy at all. Ressies we set for 8:30 which allowed time for dinner dessert a stroll and perfect ending with the fireworks. I can't wait to go again, next time we will dine as a couple and let little guy do something he loves.

Anything you decide will be filled with romance, the fact that you are planning is a gift in itself! Enjoy, all the magic of love, romance and endless possibiblties of life together!

California Grill!!! It's my all time favorite...tell them the special occasion and they'll give you the best seat in the house. You see, CG is ontop of the Contemporary Resort and has stunning views of the Magic Kingdom, given you get a good seat, so make sure to tell them (or anywhere for that matter-sometimes places do special things like free bottle of champagne or free desserts if it's a special occassion). If you REEEAAAALLY wanna go fancy and very expensive, try Victoria and Albert's in the Grand Floridian. Very romantic.
