Ok, just a little venting and if anyone has any advice, please share!!

We are leaving for our trip this weekend.... We have reserved an RCI Trade into Orange Lakes Country Club starting Sunday 1/9. We will all be there on Saturday 1/8. This is truly a last minute trip..... Don't ask, but the Gods are with us, until.....

Well, I called OLCC last week to inquire about staying the first night there and paying for it. Yes you can, but you have to call 5 days before. Ok, so today I call...

And I don't even have the ressie number out of mouth, and I am told, the price is $187.50 for a 2 bedroom rented condo. Well, ok, will it be the same condo we will be all week. Answer: NO. they aren't for rent. Can you do any better on the rate (we have 7 folks). NO, you'll need the 2 bedroom.

So, I tell the girl, Hey, we can get 2 rooms on the strip for a lot less for one night. If you can put me in the same condo so I don't have to move, I can consider that extra cost for the convenience. but if I gotta pack up and move anyway, why bother? She proceeds to tell me there is a difference between a room and a resort. I remind her for one night of sleeping and packing and moving, there really isn't much difference....

Well, the long answer was, this is the price, this is the way we do it, like or leave it.....

So I left it....

I'm usually pretty easy to get along with and really love our timeshare arrangements in Orlando. Almost purchased at Sheraton Vistana and have considered DVC for strongly.

Does anyone have any recommendations for inexpensive, one night, easy in and easy out hotels? Or does anyone have any pull at OGCC? and are we in for a nightmarish, our way or the highway treatment?

I'm afraid the answer is that everyone at OLCC has that take it or leave it attitude......

We stayed there last thanksgiving...(Granted. I have been spoiled by staying on-site for practically every other trip, so my opinions might be somewhat Disney-jaded.)

On our third day, I did a load of clothes in the dryer. The dryer caught my daughters coat on the inside of the door and tore it to shreads. I went down to the main office to see if there was anything they could do as this was her favorite coat. They told me I shouldn't have washed it and it was my fault. (i have washed it before at home so no it wasn't my fault.....)
They had maintenance come by but the guy told me there was nothing they could do and had seen it before. Well, later on I was washing JUST towels and it grabbed a towel and ripped it also... Needless to say we didn't use dryer for the rest of the trip

Noone could get the manager to apologize to me (at that point it was the least they could do.)

We definately didn't buy into there....... We did get a DVC timeshare where I know I won't be treated like that....

(Plus at least Disney has kid friendly pools with LIFEGUARDS)

Call back, if no luck, I'd go to Priceline and bid on two 3* rooms in the LBV area.

i own at orange lake and i have never had that type of service i am sorry they were so rude to you

Shelly, we came in late last year and stayed our first night at the Hawthron suits. It was older but had a free breakfast and was only $54 for the night.

I stayed at OLCC and it was okay, not great but okay. Hopefully things go up from here. Good luck.

My take on Orange Lake is if you arent an owner they dont really care about you...which doesnt make sense because if you liked the place and how they treat you, then you COULD become an owner!

Thanks to everyone who responded. Well, I think I fixed them. We just went ahead and took another 2 bedroom for the whole week. We had another week spacebanked that we were going to lose if we didn't use. So, I took a whole week, and now we can spread out!! and it cost less than one night!! and now I don't have to move until the friday before our trip is over. when I am starting to pack up anyway....

We will all stay in the one we just rented for Friday and Saturday night, then some will move to the Sunday to Sunday rental, and on Friday I'll move over to the Sunday unit. We don't have more than 8 staying in the rooms, so we aren't over the limit.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I just hope our units are 1/2 livable, and the attitude doesn't stay the same...

Shelly
