Nice reasonable hotel in Miami?

As we are now flying into Miami and staying there for 3 nights, can anyone suggest a nice reasonably priced hotel on South Beach or near a beach?

We have stayed in the Cardozo. It was nice and right there in the thick of things. It was 5 plus years ago we stayed there though.

yes we are staring miami beach ocean front holiday inn, we choose it as its free for us with Dh loyalty points, but will let you know what its like on our return

The last time we stayed on the beach in that area (which was a couple of years ago) we stayed at the Newport Beachside Resort
It's not the most lavish place on the beach, but we did find it quite reasonably priced for what it was. We had stayed there back in the 80's when it used to be a Holiday Inn - it's certainly been refurbished since!
