Nice gift for vet & staff?

I'd posted earlier in the week about our beloved dog, Wallace aka Braveheart having to be put down last Wednesday, on the Feast Day of St. Francis (still crying!). Anyway, our vet went above and beyond duty by coming to our house so we didn't have to bring Wallace into the clinic. I'd like to get her a nice gift, and I'll need to get one for her vet partner and their staff of 8. I'd like to send something a bit better than a cookie tray, but need to keep the cost sensible, too.
I can't seem to come up with any creative ideas...so, I'm asking for help from my reliable disboard friends. :grouphug:

So sorry about your Wallace... :grouphug:

Not sure if this would work or not...but when my dog had to be euthanized a few years ago, my vet made a donation in my dogs name to a veterinary school.

It was a nice memorial and it went to a great cause (the care of other animals, and new and improved treatments.)

Here's a link to the place my vet used: http://www.vetmed.vt.edu/gifts.asp but you might find one closer to you...

Oh hun I'm sorry about your loss! I'd bring in maybe one big giftcard for everyone to split? Or maybe some baskets with all kinds of cute goodies in them. :goodvibes

I used to work at a veterinary clinic, and even though I wasn't supposed to, I cried with every owner at every euthanization. I am so very sorry for your loss. I do know that Vets and their staff work very hard and often do surgery through lunch time. A nice home cooked lunch would probably be very appreciated. Of course with a sweet dessert to follow. You are very thoughtful....

I'm so sorry about your furbaby. *hugs*

Every vet hospital I've always worked for has appreciated either food or a floral arrangement as a gift. (With a slight bias towards food!)
Home baked goodies, especially something easily bite sized/finger food (eg. cookies, fudge, brownies, doughnuts, bagels and flavored cream cheese, etc.) is the best. We are usually resigned to grabbing mouthfulls on the run, so anything that requires plates and forks are a bit tough.

It sounds like you have an incredible vet. It is no surprise you would like to thank them in return. I am sure they would love the homemade treats. Maybe you could make a card letting them know how much you appreciate all they have done for you and stick it with the food. If you are worried that it won't seem adequate, do what I do. I put it in a cute box and tie it with a pretty bow. It is not a lot, but if it puts a smile on the recipient's face, then that is good enough for me.

Aside from that, I am so sorry about your pet. I hope you find happiness in the memories and healing in the days to come. :grouphug:

Karla, I am truly sorry for your loss. I think you have been given some wonderful ideas and I am sending you a cyber-hug. (((hugs)))

I think I may go with the home-baked goods and a card...bought the card already. Not only do I have a great vet, but tonight, our petsitter rang the doorbell. When she saw me, she burst into tears because she hadn't had a chance to "say good-bye" to Wallace. I'm really so blessed to have wonderful people to help with our pets (our 2 cats--ages 12 & 13--are still going strong) and this incredible board that always pulls through!

Thanks again for your ideas and support!

Karla B. :goodvibes
