We're going on the DP in May, and I'd like to make the most of it! Any recommendations for good TS meals that aren't buffet style? It seems like most of the character meals are buffets, unfortunately.

Depending on your likes, you might want to consider the Concourse steak house, I have always had a good meal there. Chief de France, Alfredo's are both good. Grand Floridian Cafe, Ohana's, Whispering Canyon, Spoodle's or Flying fish. Check out the menu's I have had good meals at all of them.

We just got back last week and were on the DP. Our favorite TS, non buffet meals were: Le Cellier in Epcot (soooo wonderful I wish I was eating there now), Whispering Canyon - fun, good food, great atmosphere and CRT - it's now 2 TS Credits but the food was wonderful and eating in the castle was a great experience. The princesses were lovely and Snow White kissed my DS 4 and he wouldn't wash off the lipsrick all week.

As for the character buffets, we only did Chef Mickey's and the food was pretty good although not spectacular but the characters more than made up for it. My DD 6 doesn't beleive in magic anymore but she forgot that during dinner there. All of the characters came by twice, Minnie fussed over her Minnie Mouse visor, Mickey grabbed my DS's Pal Mickey and posed with it, it was just great. It was definetely worth the TS credits to see my kids playing with Mickey & gang and it got us all in the mood.

Hope you have a great time. pixiedust:

I'm going in May with just my DD so I think non buffet would be easiest for me. I'm going to try Garden Grill in Epcot for a character meal. Mickey, Pluto, Chip & Dale. I've read good review but haven't tried it yet.

The vast majority of TS dinners are neither character meals nor buffets. If you are looking for a character meal dinner that is not a buffet, there are pretty much just two choices:

Liberty Tree Tavern (MK)
Garden Grill (Epcot)

Both of these are "family-style" service, and both are worthwhile. I prefer Garden Grill.

If it doesn't have to be a character meal, the choices are endless.

Our fave. TS was also Le cellier...really great food and service. We also really liked Mama Melrose at MGM. The only other non-buffet meal we did was 50's prime time at MGM. It was good, not great but "fun" none the less. We did 3 character meals, Chef mickeys (okay), CRT (excellent) and Crystal palace for Breakfast. I agree the buffets are not great at the character meals but we were really there for the kids to see the characters, not for fine dining. Definitely check out allears website that will give you a better idea of what they are serving. GOOD LUCK! :thumbsup2
