We are thinking about taking a vacation to Niagara Falls in mid June and probably staying at the Embassy Suites on the Canadian side. Trying to figure out how many days we would need and what there is to do with DS8 to keep him entertained. I was certainly thinking Sun-Wed would give us enough time. Please share your thoughts and experiences! They are greatly appreciated!

I took my 10 year old twins for Sat, Sun, Mon and it was nice. We bought the adventure pass (AAA before we left) and went on Maid of the Mist, Journey Into The Falls, a walk down the river rapids then the other stuff was a buffet dinner in the Sky Tower, ride in the ferris wheel, walked around the main street with all the shops and arcades and saw the fireworks. We all had a great time.

Your son is the perfect age for Great Wolf Lodge. I don't know your exact dates, but you can stay June 14th to 17th (Sunday to Wednesday) at the Lodge for $164.99 a night with the "STAY3" discount code. I ran the rates for Embassy Suites for the same dates, and room rates are similar plus you have to pay dearly for parking (though breakfast is included at Embassy). The waterpark at Great Wolf would be awesome, though, and it shouldn't be too crowded yet because Canadian schools are still in session until the end of the month.

The Niagara Parks Adventure Pass is definitely a good value and a great way to see the traditional Falls attractions. Bird Kingdom is awesome, as is the Butterfly Conservatory. We also like the Spanish Aerocar. Greg Frewin's show is excellent, and the Skywheel on Clifton Hill should not be missed (actually, for Clifton Hill, get the Fun Pass for the best value: http://www.cliftonhill.com/tickets?gclid=CLGsgfOjuMQCFY-HaQodt6IADw ). Take a pass on Marineland (its baaaaad) and on most of the other things on Clifton Hill that's not included on the Fun Pass.

Cave of the Winds on the US side is the best Falls attraction of them all, IMHO. Don't miss that one either before you cross the border on do it on your way home.

Falls Avenue has a Hershey Store where you can enjoy free samples. There's a shop called the Fudge Factory on Clifton Hill that has delectable sweets, and there's a Beaver Tails store on Clifton Hill as well (for a truly "Canadian" snack).

Oh....and another Niagara attraction well worth visiting....the Oh Canada Eh! dinner show on Lundy's Lane. Fun for every age.

There is so much to do. Having a pass is nice to do the basics like riding the Maid of the Mist, going in the tunnels behind the falls, riding the transport system, etc. see if they take a AAA discount or pay before you get there. One trip we did the Amerian side only and the lines were so long for tickets.

Along with the Falls, are the attractions on the main road with Games, arcades, Ripleys, I think we bought a pass for three rides at one attraction. There is the whirlpool that you take an elevator down and walk along the river, there is a butterfly attraction near there, the old museum now has bird sanctuary. You can find coupon books all over for the go carts.

Wow, Great Wolf Lodge, I remember the dozen years we took my Dad and our kids coming where it is. The older man was up and about nearly 24 hrs. dad loved chatting with him each trip.

Another place is Fort Niagara, with the winery route along the way to Niagara on the Lake. It's a short drive and the kids can try grape juice, but the fort and lake are beautiful. You can pick up a lunch and have it along the way at the many picnic tables and wonderful sites.

We use to have late lunch early dinner at the Angel Inn at Niagara on the Lake, it is said to haunted, but never had any luck. But, their fish and chips were nice. A little pricey, but it's the area. Eating in the old open beam room with old furniture is tons of fun.

There is a place that looks like a space ship, I think it's on Lundys lane, breakfast for about $2.99.
OH, be alert you need at least a pass card to get into Canada if you don't have passports. The kids under 16 need birth certificates. i think we paid about $65 for processing and cards. The photos you can get at Rite Aid, AAA or the post office. I took our own and used Internet software to size them. They paid about 20 cents to print at Walgreens.
