Just this morning my wife and I discussed a quick last minute trip to the Falls later this week. Can any of the local folks suggest a hotel that might be reasonably priced for possibly Thurs., Fri., and Saturday nites? I don't mind a bit of a drive while we're there, doesn't have to be right by the falls.

Thanks in advance
John

This is considered high season in the Falls so you may want to make a few phone calls before you go. Whenever we go to the Falls it is in the off-season when you can get half decent rates. If you have access to a Toronto Star - there are usually hotels which advertise in there from Niagara outlining their 2 night weekend package rates. If you stay at a hotel on the Falls - you will be paying big bucks right now. You will probably get a more reasonable rate at a hotel on Lundy's Lane instead. I have stayed at the Ramada Coral Suites (don't know if it is still called this) directly across from the new outlet mall and it was nice.

I think high season ends after Labour Day and the rates go down considerably. Good luck!

Stayed in the Days inn which is right on Clifton Hill. It was about one third of the way down to the river on the right (west) side opposite the frankenstein on top of Burger King. It was back in May and we stayed for $139 for the weekend which included some coupons. As the last post mentioned however this is the high season and the falls has been hoppin since the casino moved in. Regarding the room it wasn't fancy however you could walk everywhere from there.

Best wishes

Thank you very much for the replies folks. After checking around, we changed plans and booked a room near Canada's Wonderland instead. We have never been there so we thought it would make for a nice overnight trip. We got a room at a Best Western near the park and got 2 adult passes to the park included in the price of the room. It ended up seeming like a decent deal.

Again thanks for replying to my post.

Hi, we just got in from Wonderland ~ this was my 24th trip this year! We bought season's passes for the first time and we love them! We started going in May and it seems we visit a couple times a week. We live about 25 minutes away! YOU MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST SEE "ERUPTION" I TELL YOU ~ I THINK IT'S BETTER THAN ILLUMINATIONS! We saw it for the first time last Tuesday night and we are going again next Tuesday night.

WONDERLAND TIPS:

Get there about 15 minutes before opening and view the maps and make a game plan!
Most rides are DEAD first thing in the morning.

If you plan to visit the water park, it opens at 11am ~ get there about 5 minutes past 11am so you don't get into the initial rush, but the water park is still fairly empty. We do that all the time and get to do about 10 slides! (there are 16 slides, wave pool, water playground, lazy river, kiddie area and more!)

If you can, PACK A LUNCH! The price of most food is too $$$$ (although the pizza price isn't too bad $4.99 for an individual) The lines for food are HUGE!

Take your own water bottle, water is $2.49 a bottle at the park.

Most people head for the BIG POPULAR RIDES or go towards the centre of right side of the park. If you go left you will get the "old fashion" type rides and they are EMPTY! Also TOP GUN is to the left and it's a great ride!

Wonderland is a ROLLER COASTER MECCA enjoy!

SIMILAR TO DISNEY

Here are some Wonderland Rides that are similar to Disney (in my opinion)

Splash Mtn. = Timberwolf Falls (only the falls part)
Space Mtn. = Thunder Run (in the dark but no dips)
Buzz Lightyear = Scoopy Doo Ride
Tower of Terror = Drop Zone (I like ToT way better)
Any 3D Movie Ride = Any 3D Movie Ride
Spin-o-rator = Tea Cups
