NHS staff and patient confidentiality ??

I know of a district nurse who has been dismissed for looking up a colleagues blood results on the GP system. Again not in the course of her job but just to be nosy. This sort of abuse of the system is WRONG and should be reported.

I worked for a major UK bank for 28 years and this situation strikes me as identical to the one banks' employees are bound by. That's to say you can only access the accounts of customers in the normal course of your duties. Many people were disciplined and/or sacked for looking at the accounts of celebrities, football clubs, MPs and the like. One of the downsides to technical progress, I guess.

Grass her up, Nat! :thumbsup2

This is absolutely correct.
I've been trying to look for the exact wording in some old contract paperwork of mine, Nat, but it looks like I only kept the personal pages.
From memory it's something like "A member of staff is forbidden to read or seek to read information or data regarding a person or persons that doesn't directly relate to the task in hand......."

I found out today that she tried to look at my friends ex-husbands notes, he was admitted via the new-doc systen though so she couldn't gain access :confused3

It seems that she does this often.

I would certainly contact PAls and report her - This is simply not on.

:sad2:
