NFL Star Accused of Choking Tila Tequila

Shawn Merriman of the San Diego Chargers was taken into custody by the San Diego County Sheriff's Department after an alleged altercation with Tila Tequila.

San Diego Sheriff's deputies responded to a call this morning at 3:45 AM. Tila claims she was "choked and physically restrained" by Merriman after she tried to leave his residence.

Merriman is accused of battery and false imprisonment.

Tila was transported to a local hospital while Merriman was taken into custody. His bail was set at $58,000.

Tila tweeted to Merriman earlier in the day: "RT @shawnemerriman Im on my way to the sports fan in mission valley be there from 2pm to 3 30 see you there."
Tila Tequila has been released from the hospital.

I had no idea the two were involved with the other. Given the size of Shawn Merriman and size of Tila Tequila, it would not have been much of a physical altercation. You would think with the Steroids incident, Merriman would want to keep a low profile.

I'm not sure about that, KLAIT but I do know Brandon Marshall of the Denver Broncos keeps being arrested for domestic violence and keeps being found not guilty. Supposedly, the woman is the one who keeps instigating the violence and yet he keeps taking her (his fiance) back again and again.

if the charges are true, he'll be in violation of the NFL's personal conduct policy and be fined/suspended painfully by Goodell. Standard protocol.

Andre Rison was known (in terms of this kind of thing) for one of the members of TLC, his fiance, burning his mansion to the ground during a dispute, but that was back in 1994.
