LilyGator, FLABeachGirl (sp?) ready to argue Tebow-ism? Anyone else ready to argue/discuss the draft. This is our last chance to talk about college football until August (awful).

Can't wait! Love the draft. Helps that the Browns always have a pick in the top 10. :sad2:

ETA: I don't want a stupid quarterback...unless Tebow falls to the third round. He'll be a career backup at best. Nice guy though.

I don't pay attention to college football (although my husband loves it), but I will be watching the draft this year. One of my co-worker's son is in the draft and in the top ten. It's been interesting hearing about all he has gone through since stating his intentions after the Orange Bowl.

Seeing how this years Orange Bowl was played by Iowa and Georgia Tech. And that you said you're friends son "declared" (which means he was an underclassman and is a top 10 pick. He must be either Bryan Bulaga of Iowa or Derrick Morgan of Georgia Tech. Since you are from Illinois, it would be more likely he is Bryan Bulaga who is also orginially from Illinois.

And you would be correct. Good sleuthing ;)

Representing the Gators and Tebow fans alike... and yes, we're ready. :)

I'm a Gator fan and a Tebow fan, yet I know he's not perfect and he may be a much better college QB than NFL QB...but only time, and a chance, will tell for sure.

Yes, he had some traits that some in the NFL don't like, but he is also a very dedicated study of the game and is willing to improve himself. Of all of the mediocre QB's that are already on teams in the league, I'm sure some team is willing to see if he can make it.

Agreed and well said!

there is nothing to argue about - not sure why you always feel the need!!

Am ready for Thursday night!

Who knows what will happen with Tebow, I am anxious to see where he goes though as well as the rest of our FLORIDA boys, Haden, Pouncey, Spikes, Dunlap, Hernandez, Wright, Cooper, Cunningham, James, Moore, Pierre-Louis, Doe, Nelson, Stamper and....I'm forgetting someone......:(

plus where the 96 SEC players (not including FL players) and 35 state of Florida players (UM, FSU, FAU, USF, etc) will go!

Congrats guys, best of luck no matter what!

only a day away! Whoo hoo, wonder what last minute trades and deals will be done?

I have to say that I'm impressed with how far Tebow has come with his "new" throwing technique. And I know he's a class act, which the NFL could definitely use.

I've heard talks of teams trading into the end of the first round to get him, which would be very good for him. I hope he doesn't come to Cleveland, cuz we'll just screw him up. :teeth:

Count me among the excited.

It helps that 2 out of the top 3 projected picks (and 3 of the top 5 or 6 picks) will come from my OU Sooners!

It also helps that - if all goes as planned - they will go to my 2 favorite teams...the Rams and Bucs!

Plus...it appears I will be headed to Tampa to watch those very 2 teams play in October!

Yes, we will see if they come back & admit they were wrong...

Im curious if anyone is going to take Pittsburgh offer of a top 10 pick for PigBen....

No way. You don't give up a top 10 pick for a player who is suspended for the first 6 games next season and who might be one more drunken night away from a full year or longer suspension.

Same reason that Brandon Marshall was worth 2 second round picks but Santonio Holmes was worth only one 5th round pick - he's suspended for four games and Marshall is not.

I'm not sold on Bradford being the best QB. Clausen might be better in the NFL.

As for Tebow, he's a great kid, he's smart, he'll work harder than anyone... but you can't turn water into wine (not even Tebow, no matter how close he is to Jesus) and he just is not ready to be an NFL quarterback. He might be able to develop into a decent backup but it will take 2-3 years. You can't just change your throwing motion in so short a time that it will hold up under pressure - he's been throwing a certain way since he started playing and when the pressure is on he'll want to revert to that for quite a while no matter what other changes they try to make. It will take TIME to change that, nothing else. Until then? He can cover kicks and punts on special teams because he certainly isn't afraid of contact.

Here's hoping the Jags can trade down from #10, grab a 2nd round pick, and then if Tebow is around in Round 3 they can draft him then so all the crazy people around here will shut up. I'm so tired of Tebow, Tebow, Tebow...

Agreed, but you forgot the Al Davis factor... the guy will do anything for a QB... He is also one concussion away from being out of the league..

Big Ben doesn't run fast enough for Al Davis. :lmao:

Florida Football Draft Notes:

· Thirty-nine Gator players have been selected in the opening round of the NFL Draft. A breakdown on those selections includes nine running backs, nine defensive linemen, six wide receivers, four offensive linemen, four linebackers, four defensive backs, and three quarterbacks.

· Florida has had 294 players drafted all-time in the NFL Draft and the Gators have had at least one first round pick in each of the last three years.

· Florida has had a player drafted in the first-round in 10 of the last 13 years, and 20 of the last 27.

· A Florida receiver has been drafted in 14 of the last 16 years, and 19 Gator wideouts have been selected during that stretch. In all, there have been 33 UF wide receivers selected in the draft.

· Florida has had a wide receiver drafted in each of the past four years.

· There have been nine tight ends selected in the draft out of Florida. A total of 61 Gator offensive linemen have been taken in the NFL Draft.

· Six Gator defensive linemen have been drafted in the last three NFL Drafts, tied for the second-highest total in the nation during that time period, including two first-round selections.

· Under head coach Urban Meyer, Florida has had 17 players taken in the NFL Draft, third-most in the SEC since the 2006 Draft. Harvin became the fourth first-round draft choice under Meyer at Florida, the fifth overall Meyer has coached.

· Overall, 38 Gators have signed NFL contracts under Meyer.

· UF had at least 40 players chosen in the NFL Draft for the decades of 1950, 1970, 1980 and 1990. UF had 50 selections from the years 2000-09, setting a school record for choices in a decade.

· Florida had a school-record 10 players selected in the 1978 NFL Draft and had nine players selected in 1992 and 2007 Drafts. UF has led the nation in number of players drafted in a single year four times (’78: 10, ’99: 8*, ’03: 8*, ’07: 9; *shared top total)

· Since conference expansion in 1992, the SEC has had 107 first-round selections in 17 drafts, an average of 6.29 selections per draft.

· The SEC has had the No. 1 pick in the draft five times in the past 12 years.

Same reason that Brandon Marshall was worth 2 second round picks but Santonio Holmes was worth only one 5th round pick - he's suspended for four games and Marshall is not.

Also, Holmes is a free agent after this season and he's one vial of dirty urine away from a year's vacation.

As far as my Dolphins go heading into tomorrow, it's too bad the player they could use the most-- Eric Berry-- will be gone no later than Cleveland at #6. If he's still there at #12 the skies will have parted. It might be a slight reach to grab Sergio Kindle at that spot, but not so much of one that they shouldn't do it. But if I can't have Berry on the Dolphins, Kindle is the guy I want second, Brandon Graham third.

Dan Williams would be the safe pick, but they can find a space-eater in R3 or R4 just as much. The wild card is if CJ Spiller is still there after 12. Ronnie Brown might not be a Dolphin after this year and Ricky Williams is not getting any younger. I wouldn't be stunned if they pulled the trigger.
