NFL admits mistake....

I bet they would have kept quiet had the Colts won the game! There have been some really bad calls lately, and "un" calls as well. It is bad when the refs make a bad call that changes the outcome of a game. Hoping for good officiating this Sunday.

Lets see them admit they made that bad call against the Pats on Saturday. It'll NEVER happen!

I was wondering about that myself. I don't know much about football, so if I can see it, I can't help but wonder.

Which one?

1.The offensive pass interference they didn't call against Denver?
2.The defefnsive pass interference they did call against the Patriots?
3.The false start they didn't call against the Broncos during the field goal kick?

You Pat's fans weren't complaining when they won on the "tuck rule" (yes I am aware it is a real rule but it was still a blown call) so don't complain now.

That's because it's a rule - The correct call was made.

The interference call on Saturday was a joke. The referee on the sideline didn't see it. The ref on the other side of the field threw the flag 6 seconds after the play ended. Nonsense.

No excuses. They gave the game away. They fumbled the ball 3 times, and it killed them.

My question, will they fine the ref?

No.

This season has been marred by awful calls by the refs. No reason to start now. I do believe you will see a major change in referees for next season though.

That's what I figured. The reason I asked is because they have no problem fining players for questioning the calls.

I do hope you are right though, there should be big changes made. I think fining refs for bad calls would be a great place to start.

See you are only looking at it from a Pat's fan point of view. Bad calls go both ways, sometimes worse than others. It is part of the human element of the game. Sometimes life is not fair and sometimes sports are not fair.

I get what you're saying, but this isn't the case:

1.Pats vs. Raiders - Correct call according to the rule book was made. Is it a dumb rule? Maybe. However, it is the rule.

2.Pats vs. Broncos - Incorrect pass interference call was made.

Not saying the Pats would have won. The refs didn't force Faulk and Brown to fumble the ball, or Brady to throw the ball in the end zone to the wrong team.

They said that after that horrible coin toss incident in Detroit against the Steelers. I know they changed the rules about the coin toss, but these officials still leave alot to be desired.

Speaking of bad calls, how about when the whole line of the Colts jumped offside, and the refs said, "its not a penalty" HUH?

That was a good one. How they determined that was beyond me. :confused3
I have to agree with the Steeler player (don't remember who said it) that the refs seemed bias. I mentioned that to my DH not long after the game started.

As far as the Pats who knows if those bad calls would have made a difference. In my opinion the Pats have no one to blame but themselves. Watching them play I was having flashbacks to 10 years ago when you didn't tell people you were a Pats fan. It was too embarrasing to admit! LOL

Yeah what was that??

And how about one of my favorite bad calls of all time (cant remember the game right now) but, "no molesting the reciever", called against Ike Taylor I believe, so if he can get there when the ball does, he cant attempt to stop the play until he watches the guy catch it, and begin to run?? HUH??

It's only a penalty if you make physical contact, which I thought they did but it was questionable.

The officiating in the NFL has been bad for YEARS..this is not something new.

I have been saying for years that the refs are biased, and they make bad calls that can influence the game. I really hope some changes come about now.

My biggest pet peeve is when they throw the flag and then they all have to gather round and discuss it. It was either a penalty or not...doesn't the person that threw the flag know why he did it? Just what is there to discuss?

There was no question that the Colts def line made contact with the Steelers! That was what Cowher was arguing! If you didn't call a penalty against the Steelers how could you not call it on the Colts (who were all over the Steelers offensive line) :confused3

The interception call was still amazes me. How you can look at that footage and have defintive reason to overturn the call on the field is simply unbelievable. It looked more like an interception (including complete possesion of the ball) in the replay than it did in real time. That ref should be closely reviewed!!!

Terrible officiating has plagued the league for years, however, some recent calls really make you wonder about the bias of the refs! I think Joey Porter had it right when he said that it was obvious that they wanted the Colts to win (BTW, he will be getting a nice hefty fine from the NFL for that one  :sad2: )
