Can we travel with nexus card only? No passport? My daughters passport was sent in 3 weeks ago via mail and received for renewal. It’s not yet been processed (credit card not charged) and we leave 3 weeks today. We will probably have it, but if not can she travel on her nexus card only?

I have been asked for my passport at YVR and I use the NEXUS lane. The passport is scanned at the check in as I recall? Maybe it is fine if the rest of you have your passports if she is young.

Same experience here. I needed to show my passport for ID purposes but used Nexus to bypass the long queue.

We were told when we got our Nexus always to have your passport when you fly in the slight chance something happens and you get diverted to an airport without Nexus, you could have issues.

We’ve always had to feed our passports into the kiosks at the airport in Canada. Nexus shortens our wait.

Technically I don’t think you need them, but in these crazy travel times we broke down and got all the kids passports in case since one child’s nexus is technically expired (well it’s renewed but the new card isn’t available). Anyway we have previously flown to the us without passports for the kids many times. Sometimes the first agent on the line asks but you used to be able to print off something on the nexus site showing only nexus is needed. Good luck!

YES YES YES,,,do not travel without a passport. The very small exceptions are land crossings,,but even then you could have issues. Nexus DOES NOT replace a passport. It just says this person has been prescreened and Most times does not have to be pulled aside for extra screening. It expediates the customs that is all.

On nexus card only but I don’t want to get stuck!! If it’s not processed soon she will have to go to the passport office. Ugh!!!

Not sure how it is now...but last time we travelled, March 2020 - we needed both.

When we had our interview for the first time, they told us we didn't need our passports if we have our Nexus, but I was too paranoid to leave our passports home...so I always took them.

As others have experienced, we always needed them for the Nexus machines at the airport.

If we were only going through the land border, then they didn't ask for it. The land borders we've used has a designated nexus line where you hold up your card.

Good news!!! Turns out she got a call from them yesterday (forgot to tell her panicked mom) and her credit card was denied and it was being processed - she put in her card number and wrote 10 instead of 11 for exp date! So she will have it! phew!
