NextGen Scocerers of the Magic Kingdom.

So is this a sorcerer version of Epcot's Kim Possible?
Or a combination of VMK and real park interaction? :confused3

Haven't they been doing something like this at Great Wolf Lodge for years now? I've never been there, but I seem to recall hearing about a similar game a while back.

no thanks, the only park interaction I'll ever want (back) is vmk......

Yes, they have 'MagicQuest'. My kids enjoyed it. Looks to be an extremely similar concept. Here will be the question though...will this be included in park admission a la Kim Possible (which is my son's favortie thing in all of WDW)? Or will it be a boat load of extra costs like MagicQuest at Great Wolf Lodges? At GWL, you have to buy a wand (you can re-use them on subsequent visits, but so far we've only been there once), and there are all kinds of accessories you could buy as well, plus you have to pay a fee to "activate" your wand each visit in order to play.

When it comes to what WDW gas become since it's peak in 1994 yes I guess you are correct.

This is usually the point in all your threads when I start scratching my head and wondering why you contribute so much when you come across as hating the place :confused3

But I am grateful for your regular updates, dont get me wrong!:hippie:

Don't you think it's possible to love what's there as well as the history of the place while disliking (and even hating) the current management and direction?

As someone with my own conflicted love-hate feelings for Disney, I think it is.

I don't hate WDW I'm saddened and dissapointed by it. I've been going all my life and three times a year for the last 10. I've slowly seen WDW decline in the quality of upkeep, attractions, and food. I've reached my limit and will not go back till FLE is complete! I found it dad that out of my 10 day trip I enjoyed my one day in Universal the most.

I will be going to DL next October because DL is still up to my crazy Disney Standards of 1994!

1994

Dining plans didn't ruin the food

20K was still there until September

TL still had

Alien Encounter and Timekeeper it wad at it's peak.

EC still had Horizons and WOC

Sorry for the off topic (ill get back to it in a second buuuut.....) I do understand yours and Nytimes points entirely, and as someone who has only had the chance to visit WDW this side of the millennium I'm perhaps fortunate to not know what im missing out on (although a quick jump on YouTube and I get very jealous of some of the things ive missed!)

I suppose all im saying is there is still so much to enjoy over and above the little niggling things people dislike e.g DDP, resort specific merchandise, DTD clubs, Stitch etc etc... but a lot of people have perhaps had too much of a good thing over the years which has led to an an ever increasing desire to see and expect more and more innovation day after day.

Everyday hundreds of new people experience WDW for the first time, think its the greatest place in the world and it changes their lives forever. Then in their excitement they come on the forums here to find out more about the place and are greeted with countless posts and threads in all categories from Disney veterans who harp on about how it, like music, films etc, was so much better in their day...

Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't - but over the last decade the tourism industry has changed a whole lot and country after country has been hit by recessions and natural disasters, so maybe we all need to be a little more appreciative that such a wonderful luxury like WDW is still even in operation for so many to enjoy.

Keep up the great work with the rumor breaking and I hope that a little break from the place can help recharge the batteries so to speak and allow you to fully enjoy the place again in the future.

Oh yeah, and getting back on topic....

:wizard:
This Sorcerers business looks like fun - im not going to be partaking in it myself but im sure kids and families will enjoy it. I dont see it increasing attendance at all, but surely more people crowding up MSUSA and various spots around the park means more empty seats for rides yes? :teacher:

If that is the case then money well spent!

The good old days weren't always good (to quote Billy Joel) -- and I've said on here several times that the Epcot of today is way better than the Epcot of the mid-to-late 1990s (some will disagree on that). I'm also a big fan of AK, warts (and warthogs) and all, and that's still a relatively new park. I didn't like Extra Terrorestrial or Time Keeper, which seem to have sentimental value around here (although I have to say I don't like their replacements, either).

But this is the news and rumors forward, so it's not really about the stuff we like that's already there or what a first-timer might enjoy (that would be more appropriate for the Theme Parks forum). It's a forum to discuss the news of what's ahead, or what's rumored to be ahead, and the simple reality is that to many of us these plans are incredibly underwhelming and disappointing.

I would just like to contribute to the above convo about the "Disney veterans". When it comes to food quality, I've been to Disney 15 times since 1997, and have only had a handful of crappy meals there (all were counter as far as I can remember) although I've had some "average" or what I would say below my expectations meals (I'm talking to you Tony's!) but have never let that ruin my vacation.

Also, directly addressing one of figment's points about EC old rides, I never had the oportunity to go on said rides (and I am not saying in any way or form in this statement that they sucked) but I think they were victim to a drop in popularity (correct me there if I'm wrong please I'm just taking a guess with this one) and the fact Disney was looking to get more thrill rides in to compete with the rides at Universal and Seaworld, and target that thrill seeker audience that went/still goes there. That's my theory, and I beleive that MS and TT are worthy replacements.

I will say this: not having resort specific merchandise makes me  Really Disney? Do you know how many things my family or I would have bought you dopes? Whoever made that call should be shackled to it's a Small World and be force fed the Beverley. Honestly the stupidity of some people :headache:

The way I look at it, Disney was never as good as everyone says it was, and isn't as bad now as people say it is. Is it on the rise? No, but I think it's in a tough spot between the economy and all that. But I'm not making an excuse for them on some of the boneheaded moves they've made. :sad2:

By the the picture in the disney blog, looks like the same technology/game that they have on the disney dream. We played it on one of our sea days and thought it was cool but doubt I would take the time in the MK to play.

Basic premise of the game was, you get a card and have to solve the mystery of said game. (i.e. someone stole a dalmatian)you go to different pictures around the Dream, stand in front of the picture and hold up the card. The picture then comes to life and gives you a clue.
