i go i will plan my meal time differently.. we didnt pay attention to the time and end up eating at 12:00 big mistake.. hard to find a table. and the line was long next time, im bringing a little snack and wait until almost 2:00 and to do more planning on were to eat.. we ate near the peter pan ride or snow white..it was burgers and pizza..

Did you check out menus before you left? I love allears.net for the full menus listed and this site also has menus and photo's of the restaurants, reviews too I think!

Researching food options was a MUST for me since I have a picky, non meat eating 5 year old, 3 1/2 at the time of our last trip. Holy moly was it hard! He doesn't eat cheeseburgers or veggie burgers, hates the mac and cheese they have at DL (we eat organic Annie's at home), doesn't do nuggets, etc. In fact, it was downright impossible to feed him while there! I ended up packing in most of his food and then he got so bored eating the same thing daily that he just stopped eating. And we all know what happens with a hungry, tired and hot preschooler...CRANKY!

The other option is to eat a late breakfast at one of the nicer sit down places, like Carnation Cafe. Then do an early dinner around 4-5ish. Personally, that works best for us and then I can snack and eat those yummy churros, popcorn, ice cream etc.:rolleyes1

Packing your own lunch isn't a bad idea either. Eat when you want to and save money. Most people carry backpacks and stuff to hold things like that along with their souveniers, so all it takes is a little planning.

Being that the OP is from South Dakota, I think packing a lunch and bringing it in a back pack is not a viable option!

Sometimes that happens where you don't plan on eating during rush hour, but all of a sudden your tummy tells you it is time to eat and there is a restaurant near by. Sorry you had such a long wait.:)

We flew in from Seattle and just made a grocery run that night. It was a MUST for us since both DH and DS are picky eaters.

Ugg.. I can't wait for an actual vacation that doesn't include cooking or meal prep on my part! Not to mention that DH doesn't like room service (we've both worked in hotels and know what can really happen!) so guess who gets to play maid at home and on vacation!!;)

The key to investing is the same as planning to go to a poplular place. your timing should be different from the crowd.

I feel your pain. We try very hard to eat at off hours just to avoid that. It's no wonder we snack so much when we're there. lol

As a PP mentioned, we've found that a full, late breakfast from someplace like CC helps us to avoid the crowds at normal eating times later. I just grab a little something (like a granola bar or piece of fruit) to hold me over til then since I am such an early riser.

This is something that I am stressing over. We are going to be there Mon-Fri next week and I still haven't made any Priority seating reservations b/c I have no idea what time we are going to be hungry each day and what we are going to be doing.

Pack your own food then. Bring a full lunch (sandwiches or something), snacks to munch on throughout the day, beverages and a cooler to keep it all in. To make room for everything, rent a storage locker when you get into the park and put your food in it until you're ready to eat, so you don't have to carry it everywhere you go. Then you'll have quick and easy access to your food, can eat when you want to, save significant money, and you can bring things to snack on while walking the park. Dinnertime isn't quite so bad as breakfast and lunch; the parks usually aren't at their peak population by then.

Bring lots of ice or ice packs. Those lockers can get pretty hot inside since they're more or less tin cans. Dry ice might work better, even, since it will last longer, cool better, and take up less space. You can usually buy dry ice by the block at most grocery stores for about $1 a pound. It's -109F though, so be careful handling it if you want to avoid frostbite.

I'm not sure who's in your party but I would suggest making your PS's for off times. I always pack in our breakfast and we do a few rides and then sit and eat our muffins and people watch. It works out great, since my son is too excited to really eat breakfast and who am I kidding....so am I!!!

So we usually end up eating breakfast around 10am, then snack a bit- maybe buy some yummy popcorn and shoot for lunch around 2ish. If you go in the summertime when hours are extended- it's fun to eat dinner later, like 8pm and grab an ice cream cone around 11pm. My son thought this was SO COOL! We usually are very scheduled in our house and never eat past 7pm, so this was fun for him and he did just fine eating at times that were not normal for him. There's so much around to distract little ones that if you hand them a granola bar or banana and keep on moving- they'll never notice that they just missed their normal lunch time!!

So I say....go for it! Make those PS's for the off times and just make it work. You may end up buying a few more snack items from the carts but it will be worth it to not have to squish in with everyone and their mother for meals!! Don't forget to pack some snacks of your own for those times when your in line and can't visit the snack cart (or don't want the excess calories!).

Have fun!:goodvibes

Be careful using dry ice. Not only because it can freeze your flesh but it can freeze your food. If you put a soda on it, the soda will freeze. If you put a sandwhich on it the mayo, cheese, meat and moisture in the bread will freeze.

If you are bringing something that is already frozen it should be fine.
