Next Food Network Star ~ Official 2009 Summer Thread

My husband(who says he doesn't like reality shows;)) woke me up to say, "Debbie is gone!." I recorded it so I can watch later today.

:woohoo::yay::woohoo::yay: Finally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Debbie stupid-comment of the night: "not only do I represent the Koreans, the Americans, I (missed word) the entire population..." :rolleyes2:
I know! A little puffed up with her own importance, ya think?

I want Melissa's pastry recipes! I never have made a good pastry unless it was a real short crust. Watching her made me want to try again! All I kept thinking was that I would watch her.

I was :sad2: at Jeffery's decision to keep the menu so :confused3. I know he can cook and after his demo I wanted to head over to my fish market and pick up some nice sea scallops but OMG! 1/3 the budget is all he used to impress those chefs! Thank goodness they saw beyond that risotto!

:cool1:

Next week is going to be good--I'll be happy with whoever wins, they are both great. I'd watch either show.

I have to admit, I was a little worried there--remember the little blurb about Debbie in the Food Network Magazine? I was starting to worry that she used her winnings to open that hot dog thing.

Nah, I wasn't worried :) I'm a cynic; Susie's reassurances to 'trust us' got me thinking she meant they finally saw through Debbie's "stories".

Yep - that's the one thing I will miss about her.....

She understands the entire population:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Give me a break - understands how to lie and throw others under a bus - yep got that one ;)

I wondered that when I was reading the comments. I was hoping for the best, but expecting the worst ;)

I saw a different side of Melissa this week. Not just what she revealed about her past, but the poise and confidence she exuded while doing her intro and cooking demo with the celebrity judges. She seemed to me, for the first time, like someone I'd watch. She has depth now.

I'm used to thinking of her as the happy housewife cutting the crusts off the PBJ...because she's constantly reminding us that she is. She says she's 'just a home cook' almost as much as Debbie reminded us that she's Korean. But Melissa is much more likable.

I'm happy with either one winning...but I still miss Michael.

Don't know for sure, but tradition leads me to think they will run a Next Food Network Star marathon Sunday, with all this season's episodes leading up to the finale.

All players need to hit the liquor store early (and often) - stock up! :lmao:

I've been meaning to post that--they are indeed having a "NFNS" marathon on Sunday. It should be interesting to go back & see some of them again, LOL. Like Jennifer, the first person sent home. Her green bean salad.....:rotfl:

forget this bunch a wimps on Food Network - I'm switching over to watching Hell's Kitchen.

Happy that debbie is gone. I was a little worried she had them snowballed. I kept thinking, "Who will watch her? We do not trust her?"

I'd watch either of the finalists though. I like both of them. :)

I went to Red Lobster tonight and had Jeff's winning dish. I loved it! A bit spicy, but that was ok with me. Only thing I didn't like, and it didn't have it on the special menu it was on, was the ginger on top. That was easily removable though.

Yummy yummy, and I hope they keep it on the menu.

Okay, it's 9:24 AM here.

The Marathon starts in three hours and thirty six minutes!

The Finale starts in eleven hours and thirty six minutes! Before that hour is over, we'll know who has what it takes to be The Next Food Network Star!!!!!

And, um, you folks watching the show more than twelve hours from now? Probably a good idea NOT to read this thread until you've watched. There WILL be spoilers, I'm sure!

Tonight's the night!!

Go Melissa :goodvibes

Hmmmm. Does Melissa look pregnant?

Where are we going to buy all his "exotic" ingredients? Harica? Never have seen it. I could probably find it at Wegman's. But that's a drive for me.

I was thinking at the end of his show (assuming he wins), he should give a tip/etc on where to find the ingredient of the week....

of course, in today's world, all you have to do is run a search online for harissa (or whatever the weekly ingredient is) and you can order it and have it shipped right to your house
