I drove into Manhattan yesterday and went directly to the Box Office vs Ticketmaster to purchase tickets for my sister who just retired from teaching and yes I purchased another ticket for her husband as well . . . cannot have my sister go alone! I wanted total control over what specific location in the theatre I was purchasing tickets and I purchased two orchestra tks only a few rows back from the stage around mid-August and the price-point comparatively was not bad considering the great seats I purchased compared to other days and its a Saturday nite.
So for those of you who have been to this play on a scale of 1 - 10 (best), where would you rank this musical? She has seen The Lion King and Mary Poppins and so have I as well as Beauty and the Beast during previews many years ago. When I was at the box office yesterday, the door into the theatre had opened briefly, for whatever reason, and I heared a short sampling of the vocals and it sounded really good.
I took her and her husband out to dinner last nite and gave her the tickets . . . received a good reaction from her. Hopefully I made the right decision . . . certainly it has very good reviews. My initial concerns was from the advertising it seemed like it was catering more to the male populace given the casting, but the box office representative assured me that it was very entertaining for both genders.
Did any see the play and what were you thoughts?
